soooooo i received a package in the post today (and yes i'm sorry for the crappy iphone photos)

The new panerai 514 47mm steel 1940 case with the hand wound p3000 movement. First impression, suddenly it's panerai almost making a sensible normalish watch.

I tend to wear only the 47mm models (with one exception) so here it is with the rest of the collection

For a 47mm panerai it's thin, here is it compared to the 448

the 372

and the 368

Also the face is the same size as the 448, i was expecting it to much more similar to the 372 as the cases are a similar design

When i first saw the press release photos, i wasn't that impressed, i didn't like the date, i wasn't sure about the subdial. But actually what they've made is a very wearable everyday panerai, something with all the grace and simple design of panerai but in a more usual format. I suspect this is going to become my everyday wear to the office watch.

The interesting bit is the strap changing, for the 1940 models, panerai has going over to spring bars, what's quite clever is there are grooves to guide the bars to the holes, stopping that usual damage you get. What is a little weird considering all the fuss over straps, you're not meant to do it yourself, you're meant to go to your AD!

Amazing collection!!! Wow!!!

Strap question: what size ... And can you change it or can you not ... I mean every watch company will tell you: AD only .... But of course we do it ourselves.
