Icon20 GMT question?????

When a GMT comes with a Coke or Pepsi bezel is it specified on the Paperwork? I was thinking about getting a GMT and i was seeing if its better to get one that originally had a coke bezel or if i can buy the black one and just add it later?

Thanks for any help

On a 16710 you can swap out all 3 easily.

i know you can swap them out. What im asking is if there worth more if they come originally with the coke bezel on it. Is the Model number or Serial number different depending on what bezel insert is has?

I don't think it would be worth any more no matter what bezel it came with. I think there is a way to tell what it originally came with. Try a search or someone should have the answer shortly.

It's not worth any more if it has a coke bezel originally. The model itself is what holds the value in this case.

On the question of value, it usually doesn't factor into resale except for unique combinations of bezel and dial - like a transitional dial with original bezel. Take the nipple dial root beer for example.

While the paperwork on vintage models may or may not indicate - be mindful swapping bezels around if you plan to have RSC do any service in future. Keep track of what it started out as. They will know how the watch left the factory based on the serial number. If it is "wrong" insert, you will learn cost of putting it "right".

Actually it does: Pepsi is 16710B and Coke is 16710A.

The original bezel color is indicated on the serial number. The black bezel version, for example, is coded "LN" for "Lignette Noir" (forgive any incorrect spelling).

From what I understand, if you send a GMT to RSC for service and it needs a new bezel, they will only replace it with the color that was originally fitted to that particular watch.

Not sure you are right if it was officially offered as an alternative?

So...is there a way to look up a serial number for one of these GMT to check if it left the factory as. pepsi for example?

You need to have papers to indicate which one it is as I stated A vs B.

Hong Kong papers has no bezel code indication. I swapped the supposedly original black for a pepsi in RSC and was estactic! The value may actually be up now!

The style number on USA warranty papers contains info on the watch model, bezel insert color and bracelet.

There are three different codes used for bezel inserts found within the style number on warranty papers in the USA. The codes are : A=black/red, B=blue/red, N=black

The bracelet style is coded in the last four digits of the style number. 9315=93150, 7836=78360, 6251=62510 etc.

In the warranty paper below, if you look at the style number, it came with the black/red insert (16710A) with a 93150 bracelet.
