TT Blue Sub

Your thoughts on the TT blue Sub.

Now to be clear this is not about old vs new or color changes, but for the sake of this thread, lets just consider all Blue Subs to be created equal, more or less.

I owned a Blue sub awhile back, it became a DD, then became a down payment on a house. But recently getting the craving for another. This time going to go Sub C.

Now onto my question. Does it seem that the TT Blue Sub somehow fell out of favor? Not as popular? Perhaps even became seen as dated?

Now agreed, back in the day of JJ, we could always count on a Blue Sub thread to be floating around. But it just seems like there is not the full on cult following for the watch that there once was.

So what are your thoughts? Has the watch somehow fallen out of popularity?
Just curious.

(For the record, I'm all in, the blue TT Sub is next on deck for me regardless of popularity.)

And a Pic of mine that is long gone, but never forgotten.

Thanks.... but don't congratulate me yet. The TT blue sub in the next on my list, my AD is just storing it for me until I get enough money to get it released.

But hoping it will be soon!

BTW great pic!

My second Rolex was a tt daytona that I wanted for some years as an addition to my 17 year old Sub. For me I find it more of a formal occasion watch, and wear my Sub 42 mm Explorer on a daily basis. I think the 16613 or 116613 blue Sub is more versatile than my the Daytona or even a Datejust because it is more sports oriented. That blue dial is so beautiful and unique. If it' s only available in the ss and gold, then so be it.

Funny you ask ..I recently flipped one. The 116613 was my grail watch. For some reason I just didn't bond with it. I still have a 16610 that I love.

Hi Mark,

JJ certainly loved his 'bluesy' and it is one of my favourites.

Popularity is created by social demand. I think most people will usually prefer a SS Black Sub, if force to choose one between the two.

Essentially you should love and enjoy what you have, and nothing else.

It's a beautiful watch. I love it.

TT watches weather they are subs or datejusts are perceived as being for older men while the SS watches are more in today. I for one love both but I'm also 52.

I'm generally not a TT kind of guy but that along with the root beer GMT look stunning to me. Maybe a little dated but not in any kind of a bad way.

I was all set for trading in my Evolution on a Blue TT Sub until my wife noticed pictures from the AD comparing the blue and black. She said she did not care for the blue color and strongly urged me to get the Black faced sub. I was actually torn between the two colors and her opinion pulled me over to the black face. I still want a blue starburst when it becomes available.

I think the blue Sub (non-ceramic) in gold OR TT is the most beautiful watch I have ever seen.
I really don't need another watch but would like to own one just because of it's beauty.
Maybe in a few years...

Nah, they still work. Get lots of compliments on mine and many don't even know it's a Rolex - they just like the blue colour. I can't do full gold, didn't think I'd really like the TT due to that, but turns out it's for me.

The 16613 is the most beautiful watch Rolex has ever produced. That being said, yeah... TT is a bit dated looking unless you live in FL. Sold mine a few years ago, initially loved the flashy look but that was ultimately the reason I let it go.

Interesting. Kinda the same for me. The DD was even less flashy believe it or not.

But with the new upgrades on the hunt again. Maybe I'm just getting older.

Can't seem to take it over? Is that a good thing?

Also is it the new deeper blue? Looks stunning in your photo.

I've never given tt a second look, but this weekend I saw a guy wearing one in lowes and it looked simply stunning! I'll be paying more attention from now on, but I think the smurf has stolen some thunder.
