I Finally Saw A BLNR in the Steel
I did not love it. I understand why people do, as it's clearly a beauty.
BUT, the blue, which is typically a big selling point for me is too subtle I think. And I kind of got lost when looking for the GMT hand. I think I prefer the black GMT. I was also lucky enough to see the WG skydweller. That thing is super sexy. No lume tho, and I'll not go that route again. But my lord, absolutely stunning. Lastly, I saw the DJ2 white stick dial. Lots of love. Tons in fact as I really like the way it looks. It appears very versatile and has a mix of dress and sport. Sadly, I've really gotten used to the heft of gold and I'm not sure I could go back. Lots of fun. But zero on my list right for right now. As Mike suggested in another thread, it's time to start saving for the panda Daytona.

I have not had the chance to see a BLNR live yet... but I suspect my reaction will be like yours.

There seems to be a love it or not trend with the BLNR. I can see how it's not for everyone but I definitely love mine.

I've not seen it yet but that confirms what some have been saying - namely that in pictures the blue in the bezel stands out but it really is much more subtle in person.

I "got it" when I saw one. It looks great, and is definitely a stand out. This and the green Submariner are the two watches I have my eye on if I ever pick up another watch.

IMHO, the reason some don't like the BLNR, is because they were hoping for a coke/pepsi repeat, and/or are trying to make a direct comparison to one.
Disclaimer: I absolutely LOVE the pepsi bezel, and with this said, if Rolex ever makes a Pepsi-C, I will be very tempted to switch out the bezel... Now, with this in mind... What makes the BLNR different, is the subtlety of the blue. Sometimes it pops, and sometimes it is hardly noticeable. Unlike the coke/pepsi attention grabbers that scream "look at me" from across a crowded room, the blue really kind of blends in. In direct sunlight or bright lighting, it is very noticeable, yet does not scream for attention. In dimmer light or shade, you almost have to do a double-take to pick out the blue. This isn't your fathers GMT, and I'm OK with that. |

I couldn't ever see myself owning one, but hey, a lid for every pot!
If I were ever to own a new GMT it would be an all black bezel insert with no PCL's.

The blue and black clash to my eyes. I just picked up a new all black. Even in the old GMT's I liked the all black bezel. Just me. Not a knock.

It's the letters at the end of the reference numbers like the anniversary green GMT2c is the 116710LN, well the day/night GMT2c is the 116710BLNR.
The blue sure looks nice in pics, and hopefully I feel the same when I see it in person, so I don't feel the need to flip my GMT2c. Surprised you feel that way about lume, thought I was the only lume nut around here. No lume watches are a deal breaker for me except some dressy gold Patek on a leather strap....but that's just not something I have the luxury to own, so no lume no watch. |

The BLNR looks amazing to me. My favorite color is blue... and not so much green. I mean, the GMTIIc LN is nice because the green is subtle. And the HULK is a beautiful watch but it's ALL about green. It's like orange on a watch... just not for me. The BLNR however is on my future radar.

I did not find this model too exciting....definitely love the YMII SS....but the price is just outrageous.

Still waiting to see one.
I've grown to love the pics but I'll need to see it to really judge. |

I like the overall look of the LN. However I do acknowledge that a bicolor bezel is part of the DNA of a Rolex GMT Master. Maybe Rolex just did something right with the Pepsi bezel or maybe it's just such a piece of nostalgia that it is the comparison for all other models, but something about the BLNR is just a tad off for me. I want it because it does such much right; it has the DNA of the GMT Master. Just the color is the only thing I am unsure of. My next Rolex is going to be a 116710 of some sort, I need to really ponder this one.
