Currently Own a DJ 16234....and I'm confused what I should do with it.

I purchased my Datejust 16234 in October 1997. I wore I pretty much everyday up until earlier this year. My wife bought me a Seiko that a picked out to wear occasionally as a change up. I liked the Seiko so much that I ends up buying a Seiko 5 Sports Automatic Divers watch I never liked the larger watches when I was younger....but I like this one so much it's become my everyday watch.

Now I'm not sure if I should keep my Rolex and wear it or sell it?

I would keep it, it's paid for and it can be used as a dress watch.

Here are pictures of the watch. My other concern is it was last serviced in Fall '09 so that will be due again.

If you don't need the money. Keep it.

If you don't wear it, I would sell it.

Keep the Rolex and wear it in rotation with the others.

I hear more stories of remorse from people who sell their Rolex watches than from people who buy them.

Tough call! I'm in a similar situation, though it was a Citizen Dive Watch that has become my daily wearer. My Turn-O-Graph got a service from Dallas RSC, and now sits in the safe, along with the boxes and papers. Your watch is not likely to lose any value any time soon, so you can ponder the options without much of a fiscal impact.

I'd suggest keeping it, even if you're not wearing it. Would make a nice 'down payment' towards your next piece if/when you decide to get something else.

My biggest concern is sellers remorse. I'm adding a picture but its currently in moderation. If I did add another one...I'd like to move to a Yachtmaster.

Hi,

Personally, I'd keep it. I think it's the kind of thing you'd regret, if you sold it just because you thought you didn't want it anymore - chances are you'd find out pretty quick that in fact you did still want it after all.

Myself, there have been two occasions when I've had to sell a watch for financial reasons, and I did it without any regret or remorse - taking care of your family is more important than any watch. But I'd be lying if I said I still didn't occasionally miss those watches, even though I'm at peace with my decision. If you don't absolutely 100% have to sell it, I'd advise you not to.

I would keep it for special occasions knowing you have a Rolex for weddings, parties, etc...

If it takes up too much space in your jewelry box/bureau/safe I will take it off your hands.

Get it serviced, put it away, and then in 10+ years your taste may change again...

you can send it to me, I'll pay for postage and wear it for you, until you decide you want it back

I've done some research on selling it and the prices are all over the place. Back when I had it serviced, I had the Crystal replaced (had a small chip) and some of the internal parts....in addition to the COA. It looks really good for it's age.

I also wouldn't be able to replace it right away.

I appreciate everyone's input. I've looked at this forum before and there is a tremendous amount of data and knowledge on here.
