I see references to the President bracelet on the DayDate; I have a Jubilee on my DateJust. Are they as similar as they appear? What is the difference?

The president is only available in precious metal. It's less "airy" looking but both are fantastic bracelets.

I've not looked at DayDates in the shop, been scouting an Explorer, occasionally try on a Daytona or a YM.

Hi,

In terms of similarities, they both have a concealed clasp, or Crownclasp, as I think they officially call it now. Beyond that, they are quite different in style, with the Jubilee having three vertical rows of links in the centre, and the President having one horizontal row of links.

The Jubilee is an option for a few models - most notably the Datejust - but not the Day-Date, and is available in steel, steel and gold (Rolesor, in Rolex-speak), and gold. The President is only an option on the Day-Date and certain mid-size and lady-size Datejusts, and is only available in gold or platinum.

It's a real beauty indeed, but kinda disappointing that the screws are 18kt though.
I've asked RSC about this but never had a proper response, just a faff about Gold screws perform better !

I believe the springbars are steel while the hands and markers are all WG.

I think they would put white gold screws if they don't use plat. Not steel on that high end watch. Heck they use 18k screws in the pres.

Weight is also a difference. Of course some of that is because the Pres is PM, but also a thicker and heavier bracelet. Once sized correctly, the President is a very comfortable bracelet.

Not only. There are president bracelets for less than 36mm datejust models.

I have a president bracelet with hidden clasp on a 31mm Datejust.

There are also some models of president bracelets for 26mm watches.

Springbars and link screws are in 18k WG. I believe the reason for the WG screws is to prevent galling that can sometimes happen with platinum.

Two little tiny screws in WG run about $100.

Hands are WG AFAIK.
