Turned 40 and it is about time I go for it!
I've been flipping watches for years. Tried all of them from Breitling to Omega, "micro brew" divers for fun and Fortis, Tudor, Seiko and on and on..
Now that I've reached the fantastic age of 40 I've decided to make the big push. It's time to reward myself for all my years of sacrifice of being a full time single father and have something I can pass on to my daughter or her children 50yrs from now How many of you have put it off like me and kept buying and trying out other watches until it finally hit you? I'm looking forward to actively participating in such a fun forum with real enthusiasts! |

After dabbling in a few other brands I finally got my first Rolex at 46. Then shortly after bought my grail; a K series GMT II. After that, I fell in love with Tudor, first vintage, then new.
Never know where this odyssey will lead. Good luck, dP

Does not matter when you get which watch...so long as you enjoyed them along the way...
I'm sure you are pretty happy where you are right now...enjoy |

Are you in Portland, OR? Packouz is a great store. Larry will be retiring soon but Jennifer can help you pick a nice watch. Great store and people. No tax is a big plus. If it's a different Portland, disregard this post :). Either way, congrats and enjoy!

My biggest regret was waiting until my mid 30s. I see others on trf that are in their 20s, and it just reinforces that i waited too long. I should have pulled the tigger a decade earlier.

Perhaps you should try Patek, Vacheron or Audemar and Lange. I've had the pleasure to try my father's collection and the Lange 1 is a piece of art. Don't limit yourself to just Rolex. Life is short and you may like other watches. |

Forty was one of my roughest years, though not the roughest, but I was quite lucky to have survived.
I bought my first Rolex at age 59, when I retired. I figured cheating death so many times and living long enough to actually retire was accomplishment enough to deserve a crown. I chose the 114270.
