A series 16610

Hello all, just looking for some quick help tbh.

I've got a 1999 a series 16610 that I've had from basically new.
A friend of mine is after one and wants to know what they are likely to cost.

I can't seem to find a great deal of info on the a series, which I like specifically because of the lugholes and non-solid end links.

I found one post on a forum noting this as one of the 'rarer' versions which I take with a pinch of salt, but I am curious as to why I can't find much info on it.

Can one of you helpful chaps enlighten me please.

Cheers,

D.

I have one that I got new, $2,700 back then (after discount), if I rememeber correctly.

Expect to pay around $4,000-$5,000 today depending on condition. The A serial is a bit of a transitional one for Rolex as it had lug-holes, non SEL and a "SWISS" only dial, however, none of that is reflected in a higher resell price compared to e.g. a P serial.

Its a A serial Rolex have never made a series of any watch which means the case was stamped sometime between November 1998 till December 1999.Now in this time frame there was a change from Tritium lume to Luminover lume with the word Swiss bottom of dial. So apart from the lume change 1998 the SEL introduction in 2000 non lug hole case a LEC on crystal plus some minor font changes its just like the any of the other millions of 16610 subs that was first introduced in 1988.

They made your watch with lug-holes and non-solid end links from ~1989 until around 2000 when they started putting the SEL bracelet on.

As mentioned, the serial number just starts with an A; other than that it is no different than any other of the era. An A serial may or may not have the tritium dial which was phased out around 1998.

Condition is paramount when looking for likely costs and prices are all over the Internet for the 16610. The higher range will be for mint watches and the lower range for well used examples.

It's pretty easy to fall for the GMT.. It is one of the most versatile watches in the Rolex line-up..

It's the one that sees the most wrist time for me..
