Best Way To Find An Unworn Sea Dweller 16600?
Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, as I've just recently hit my saving threshold to start a serious watch collection. Thank you in advance for your help and advice! I've long coveted a Rolex dive watch and like all the changes made to the Sub in the new Ref. 116610—except for one, which is by far the most important change to me: the wider lugs. I prefer classically sized watches, and as many of you have pointed out, the 116610 wears significantly larger than the 16610. Also, I much prefer the general aesthetics and transition to the bracelet with the 16610. So, I find myself looking for either a Sub 16610 or Sea Dweller 16600—I'm leaning toward the latter because it's less common and because I like having the date but not the cyclops. With that said, here are my main questions: First and foremost, how would you advise going about procuring this kind of a recently discontinued model? I'm looking for pristine condition—completely unworn if it can be found—and want the most recent possible serial number. What do people recommend? The sales corner here or on TRF? Chrono24? Matthew Bain or Robert Maron (I know there were some serious issues with Aaron Faber around here)? Obviously I'm very wary of all the typical shenanigans. Can the new bracelet and clasp be fitted to the 16610 and/or 16600—and if so, can they be purchased by themselves? I'd love a couple wrist shots of the 40mm Sea Dweller—especially side views—to see how high it sits on the wrist. I know the 16600 is meaningfully thicker than the 16610 but haven't seen it in person. Thank you all again for your help—I'm looking forward to purchasing my first meaningful watch and becoming a contributing member of this forum! |
