Cost of a Rolex?
Has anyone every done a breakdown on the cost of a Rolex if you add up all of the parts? I sent my TT Sub in for service and they wanted $4400 for a new bracelet alone...A lot compared to a brand new watch.

If that is how much a new TT braclet is you would have to be NUTS to ever replace it, just buy a new watch. Crazy. I know if you try this with a car with parts from a dealer it is ridiculous.

Did they recommend replacing it prior to just polishing up the old one?

Rolex spare parts like bracelets are expensive. A President bracelet with concealed clasp for the DD is US $ 11,000.
The TT having only the centre links in YG and their being hollow, as well, makes the price for the President bracelet seem valid, even though it is expensive. Also, I don't think you can calculate the "cost price" of a complete Rolex from the cost of individual spare parts.

I did a "face plant" a few months back after getting tangled up with my dogs. I put a huge scratch/gouge in the bracelet. I asked them about it before I had it serviced. I passed on it. They polished about 99% of it out. There is a tiny pin-prick ding left. It's no biggie. It is next to the clasp and almost invisible. I was just curious... and shocked at the cost. It just made me think about the total cost as half of the price is in the bracelet.

Wow, well, I'm glad it all worked out for the best!
At least now you'll watch and work harder to plant only seeds, and not your face. |
