Good shops in NY

Hi

My wife and me are planning a little shopping trip to New York in the end of Feb.

Can some of you advise me on good shops in New York, my main interest in watches are Rolex and Breitling.

Cheers

Wempe on 5th avenue is good. I would avoid Tourneau
, but that's just my opinion.

Thx for info Golf...Wempe you say hmmm they have a really good name here in Denmark aswell, the nearest shop is in Hamburg Germany.

Its just with the low exchange on the USD right now, I can save alot by traveling to NYC and shop for watches...

Only problem is to find a hotel that dont cost a shitload and still close to the shops and all.....

Take a look at the Henry Hudson Hotel or maybe it's called the Hudson Hotel that's on W. 58th at 9th Avenue. It's close to everything quite new maybe 4 or 5 years old. Near the new Time Warner Building, go east 1 block and your ate Central Park, a few more blocks your at 5th Avenue where Wempe (be sure to check out the New Apple store on 5th Avenue. 5th Ave is a nice leisurely walk 20-25 minutes, if that, there's even a Tourneau in the time warner center as well as some other shops and the Whole Foods Market in the basement of the building has some good eats hot prepared food buffet as well as groceries, nice eating area and it's reasonably priced by NYC standards. And of course, to the South is Time Square and the theatre discrict...enjoy your visit! Oh, go to the Rolex site and look for ADs in New York City, Wempe isn't the only place. I also don't know what discounts are like, if any. Keep me posted on what you do and see when you're here! I personally buy from out of town and ship here so as to avoid sales tax which is a whopping 8.375% or some outrageous amount (btw, you don't get the tax back like you do in Europe when you leave the country). ;)

For Breitling I got mine at Kenjo on Wall Street- very nice selection but a bit pricey. For Rolex I've only dealt with William Barthman downtown.

William Barthman and Rolex. I hear their ad every time I listen to the Yanks on the radio. I can hear John Sterling now...ahh, only two more months
