Thoughts about the new rolex models

Do you guys think that if this year rolex upgrades most of it's watches the demand for some old models will go down? For example do you think that if the sub and the SD get upgraded the demand for daytonas or milgauss will go down because more people will be interested to check the updated models?

Sure..

I think that anything new will decrease the pressure on the highly sought after pieces already in circulation..

Rolex is a "must have" for those who have "made it", and there are quite a few out there who just have to have the latest and greatest.

Meteorite is out of my range. I would be really happy with an SS. I am confused about the dial but right now i am leaning towards the white dial. Indeed i would be a happier person if i would be able to get one

Maybe if the demand for the "old" models goes down I'll find a Red Sub or 5513 that hits me right and won't break the bank. Yeah, as if. I might lust after a newer one, but mine is a keeper for sure. I would like there to be others to go along, and new isn't always bad, is it?

I wouldn't be able to see the LEC if the minute hand wouldn't be there. Thee daytona is a great watch for sure and i watch that hold excellent value

Maybe? That's PART of the reason why the SS Daytona market has softened up a bit as of late. People are after the latest models...Mllgauss and GMT 11-C.

If they upgrade the sport rolexes i am starting to believe that many people will quit from buying the daytona and at last we will be able to see some reasonable prices

I think most folks on this forum are into the tool watches more than the others. Does anyone have any idea how sales break out by model? Is the DJ the number one seller or the Sub, or the GMT? Based on inventory I see displayed, I would think the DJ is the bread and butter for Rolex because of all the options available.

I think the SS Daytona market is currently soft because Rolex released a large number of them over the holidays. The GMT II-C is a general release, a soon-to-be super common model, while the Daytona is "grail" status to many, so I don't think a buyer would really compare the two.

If Rolex upgrades the Daytona, I think prices and demand for the original SS Daytona will increase. Demand won't drop that much, but supply will no longer be increasing.

Personally i think that we are facing a transition period. We are going to witness huge changes. I believe that rolex is aiming at young people also that follow the trend of huge watches ( Panerai is an example) so that's why there is a rumour about cases bigger than 40mm. If they release a lot of new models i am 60% sure that the daytona market will fall.

Shudder, whilst I'm sure the new breed of watches will always sell is there a parting from design heritage or is Rolex as someone said updating its image/designs to entice younger buyers.

Scott, I agree with you on the SS Daytona, but I have noticed that the softening may have let up a little. I am not seeing as many SS Daytona listed for sale. Many of the relists have sold already, except for some of the power grey resellers who have a lot in stock. Maybe people are holding on until a potential price increase? Not sure what to make of it.

If the Subs and SD's get updated, I believe there will be a huge demand for them in the beginning, but after that I think the old Subs and SD's will rise considerably in price! I don't believe an updated Sub or SD will have ANY effect on the current status with the SS Daytona and Milgauss, though. They are in a league of their own and would not be affected by those changes, IMHO.

Man, I hope you're wrong. I think the current case size of Rolex sport watches is perfect. Not too big, not too small. Substantial without being offensive. I really hope the company bucks the current trend of going uber large on their watches. I mean, does the Sea Dweller really need to be larger? It's already a tank!

Ι agree with you and i hope to be wrong. But will all the rumours about bigger daytona and bigger size sub and SD i am just making some assumptions. The SD indeed is already a tank
