Sub 5513 movement question
Hi,
Looking at a photo of a watch i've been offered (A), the quite blurry picture I've been sent looks different than other pictures of the same movement (B). What do you guys think? |

Good eye
I would definitely want to see that much more clearly, it does set off alarm bells compared to your reference photo. |

No Rolex engraving/writing visible through the slots in the winding rotor, movement reference number "box" too large compared to archive photo, and it looks like rivets on the rotor that are actually dented, doesn't it. Either it s a regular production version with variations that has been damaged, or more likely...
A watchmaker might have bad news for someone

The overall finish looks cruder, but it's tough to tell from the pic. The rotor shaft sure looks different.

The 5513 used the 1520 movement...
The later ref 14060 switched to the 3000 movement. The picture you show indicates a very worn rotor pin.. One that will need to be replaced to prevent further damage of the movement..

Looks like it's been worked on by a watchbreaker!
Have a good watchmaker, or RSC give you an estimate on the repair before you make the purchase!

Agree the rotor shaft looks extremely worn, but the 5513 could have the Cal 1520 or the Cal 1530 depending on year. But the 15XX series are very Strong and IMO still the best Rolex has made. For a vintage everyday wearing watch you cannot go wrong with a well serviced 5513.
