The top AD retailers in Manhattan, for a serious buyer, likely will treat you well, but prepare to pay bust out prices. I have only shopped in Manhattan and purchased my watches from a local AD jeweler who is a pleasure to work with.
Tourneau has several locations, and the Wempe/Rolex boutique on 5th Avenue for is not bad for browsing, Barthman on Broadway downtown may be a good place to buy. The Manhattan shops will have the best selections, but the better deals are likely in the suburbs and outer boroughs.

Avoid tourneau like the plague. Go to wempe for better service or Barthman (downtown) for a potential discount.

Wempe is a fantastic place to browse but in the end they really only budge off of retail for a few specific buyers and even then its quite a small discount. Try a trusted seller on here and you wont be sorry.

I didn't have a good experience at Barthman downtown. The manager (richard) there was quite rude, so I brought my business elsewhere. He didn't seem to mind it. Less work for him, I guess.. Their showroom and selection is also smaller than the bigger ADs in midtown.

As many others have already suggested, it's worthwhile considering a trusted seller here on the forums. They're knowledgeable, friendly, and for a piece as standard as a sub, they should have no trouble finding one for you, if it's not already in inventory.
