Incoming....& now to DSSD or not?

Hi guys. Here is my Rolex Explorer purchased this week in Newcastle, UK.
Absolutely love it, so classy yet simple, it truly is a watch for life.
http://flic.kr/p/h6diEd

I also tried the DSSD when I was there, absolutely love the design and engineering of the piece. After agreeing with my GF, the plan was to pick this watch up this time next year and the 2 would be all I would purchase for a lifetime.

But, after the way I have fell for the Explorer, I'm now wondering if I need 2 watches. Any thoughts?

Pic of the DSSD I tried in store. Interestingly, the store was the first ever to retail Rolex in the UK.

I wish you luck with this! Is your GF on track to become your MRS.? Replace 'lifetime' with 'this year' while you have some negotiating power!

Congrats on the Explorer. Classic nice piece. And yes, get the DSSD, also. But my advice to you, and I want you to listen closely, is to LEAVE this forum and NEVER come back. Otherwise, good luck in thinking you'll only need two watches for your lifetime.

You can always do with another watch!

Anyway, if you stick to your plan you still have another 365 days to think it over.

Next year this time is an eternity away so why fret about it?? Just enjoy your newly purchased Explorer and worry about another piece when the time comes.

Best of luck with two Rolex watches. The Explorer is good as a daily wearer and dressy occasions, the DSSD as weekender, casual wear. Then you'll need a..... for....

I buy my wife a new Rolex for each two that I buy for myself. She now loves when I start looking at another one. Problem solved!

If I knew I could just have 2 watches, one would have to be YG.

Also the DSSD does NOT look too big on you. Pics always look larger and I've seen some that still look like Olive Oil's arm. Yours looks fine.

In my experience, by 'this time next year' you will have forgotten you ever wanted a DSSD, and several other watches in between, and will have moved on to wanting something entirely different in the Rolex range. Don't sweat it.

Get both if you can afford them. Both wear and look very differently. The Explorer flies under the radar. The DSSD is an instrument. For all the internet chatter about its tapered bracelet, weighs heavy, depth rating, etc., you got to wear it to appreciate that Rolex really got this one right (imo).

Don't sweat the small stuff, enjoy the Exp while you save up for your next watch. Once watch number 2 comes along, whatever it is, you will be ecstatic about it for a while, then you will put the Exp back on and be ecstatic about it...then you will start thinking about another watch, and this is how it starts!
