3rd party extended vehicle warranty/Service Contract
Might not be the right forum to discuss this but TRF is my home and I would rather have a discussion here any day rather than the other forums
I wanted to know if any members of our wonderful community have ever purchased a 3rd party vehicle service contract aka extended warranty. I have been looking at the following companies for my cars. Endurance Easycare USAA Carchex any input is much appreciated. feel free to recommend a company too.

I have VW Easy Drive/Care extended warranty for my Touareg. I forget the term to use, I think it's exclusionary, it only list what it doesn't cover and much easier to understand. The less mileage on the car when you buy it the better. And I bought it right before the factory warranty was just about up.
I have no complaints, no deductible and and extra 6 years of coverage I believe. It was worth it and only like 1250.00. I've used it once a few months ago when the air conditioning blower motor quit. Saved me almost 500.00. Just make sure you follow the factory recommend maintenance schedule, and keep detailed records of the services. Some people say it's a waste of money but I'm not a computer expert and the new cars are all computerized with a ton of electrical stuff. I sleep well knowing that I have this coverage. EDIT: I have USAA for my insurance needs and didn't even think to check their prices, but this was a very fair price I was quoted from a member of the Touareg Forum and a great warranty company so far.

Thanks Mark. Do you know if that is 3rd Party or is it backed by the manufacturer?

It's says Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc
I did buy it through a VW dealer in Langhorne, PA. Langhorne VW I know the VW dealer here in town where I live seem to have no problems with it or the independent VW repair facility I use too for that matter. You should check out the message boards for your particular vehicle, I find great information on those sites. Good luck Edit: I would probably check with USAA, as you know they have a great reputation Sent from.....

I bought an extended warranty through GM on my 07 BMW 530i a few years ago (it's now sold). The plan was great for me, $100 deductible and covered everything including electrical. Saved me a few times.

The only ones I have and will ever go with are the ones backed by the manufacturer. My uncle has been in the car business for 44 years now and he said that there are one or two others that have their place, but for the most part, the manufacturer based ones are the way to go. We just bought one for my wife's car covers it bumper to bumper for 100k miles. $100 deductible after 36k miles.
