My rating based on aesthetic preference.

Rolex
Panerai
PP
JLC
VC
AP
Omega
IWC

Just my personal preference based on aesthetics (model design) and no offence meant to anyone's own preference

These types of threads are quite meaningless as each persons rankings are totally different.Myself only rank whatever I have got on my wrist at that time as I must have ranked it high to buy it.How do you rank a watch by its price, resale value, brand image as many today just wear a brand etc.Myself don't rank any watch as they all have there place in this horological world from the so called low end to the so called high end.

I would rank them as the OP did. Not much wrong with that order. Of course lots of Rolex homers are not going to buy into Rolex being 5th or 6th.

I love Rolex but it's not very high on my list, PP, AP and JLC are much higher on my list.

3. JL
4. Rolex
5. Omega
6. IWC
7. Panerai

Left out AP. They do not really appeal to my taste and I have not done much research on them.

There's many ways to rank, depend on what's your criteria.

In terms of horological and watch-making capability.

1. JLC tie with PP
2. VC
3. AP
4. IWC
5. Rolex
6. Omega
7. Panerai

in terms of prestige, image and desirability

1. PP
2. AP
3. Rolex
4. VC
5. IWC
6. JLC
7. Panerai
8. Omega

but in terms of what I like, which is actually highly subjective

1. Rolex
2. IWC
3. AP
4. PP
5. JLC
6. VC
7. Omega
8. Panerai

In terms of what I would buy and wear....
1. Breitling and Rolex
2. Paneria
3. Omega

Threw a curve ball in there. AP, PP, and some of the others are nice, and I appreciate the craftsmanship, but realistically, I wouldn't see myself buying and wearing them. The ones I did rank, I was able to rank because I know there are specific watches that I have purchased, and are waiting to purchase.

They're all very good brands, I'm afraid I'm not into ranking names though as whenever one has an advantage over another it also has a bad side to compensate. There's no best brand, only big categories of watches.
