In praise of the 93150

I know we all love the new style (updated) bracelet and clasp, and why wouldn't we? It's beautifully crafted, solid as a rock and has a spring loaded deployant clasp (long overdue, I know!). I have seen many posts praising the new style bracelet, and have to concur, it is a marvel of Rolex engineering.

As amazing as the new style bracelet / clasps are, I feel compelled to pay tribute to the outgoing, now discontinued 93150 bracelet. My Z series 14060M's (and first Rolex) has held up remarkably well, as my 14060M and I have done most everything together since 2007, as it was (and probably still is) the most versatile watch in my collection. I have worn the watch while playing sports, traveling the world, celebratory dinner and events and pretty much any and everything on between.



Sure the hollow links and 501A end links rattle (I now find this somewhat charming, as my Daytona is solid as a rock) but the bracelet serves very well, and despite many critics who will say otherwise, I love my 93150 and wouldn't trade it for an updated bracelet / clasp.

That rattle is actually a secret function seldom discussed outside of Rolex HQ.

Hikers soon learned the value of it in the wilderness - they would attach it to their hiking jackets where it could easily be read. When hiking the sound of a 93150 rattling alerted the bears that humans are coming, thereby avoiding potentially dangerous encounters.

Thus the secret codename: Bare Metal Jacket.

Bah humbug....let's hear it for that old shake rattle & roll bracelet w/ the tinfoil clasp.....and no clasp guard like in the 60's......my old 1655 clasps haven't failed yet.
I have nothing against progress but some of the new things may lack soul.

I am a huge fan of the 93150. Two of my three Rolexes have it, and I dare say they are the more comfortable ones. I've been wearing my 14060 on a 93150 for over 13 years with nary a problem.

Love my 93150 bracelet. I bought one about a year ago and use it on both my Tudors below......switch back and forth. I have taken my original Tudor bracelet that came with the Big Block and stored it away. I also like the fact of added security with the flip lock on the 93150 when I have it on the 79180 Big Block......the original bracelet has popped open on me a few times. These are great and very comfortable!!
