I have been told that there is no such thing a factory SS fluted bezel for a ladies watch, just wondering if this is true. Thanks.

If you're referring to datejusts, fluted bezels are white gold (or yellow gold on a TT). Smooth bezels are stainless.

Not sure about ladies watches but the men's fluted are gold. The engine turned and smooth bezels are ss.

That is true. There are no Stainless Steel fluted bezels.

If it is fluted it is a precious metal.

Yup! And some confuse the engine turned bezel with the fluted one. Whereas the engine turned and smooth bezel come in YG (some also in RG), PL and SS, the fluted bezels never come in steel but only it YG, RG and PL.

Yes and it is quite obvious why people confuse it with fluted too.
Engine turning usually refers to a patern made on steel or other alloys to decorate it with a swirl or similar motion.
The steel bezel fitted to the Oyster dates and some DJ's that is refered to as engine turned is quite obviously not engine turned at all and is more like a fluted bezel IMO.

I think it would be quite fair to call this fluted?

NOT MY PIC!!
