My 2 year old has a habit of taking my watches and leaving them laying around. Took me a week to find my 5513. He put it in his toolbox.....

No, because ive made a habit of placing my watches in their box/boxes once i take them off. For example, once i take my Tag F1 off for the night i automatically place it right in to its service box. That way, when its not on my wrist i will always know where it is.

A friend of mine has this crazy habit of hiding valuables in unusual places when he goes on holiday..... so places he thinks a thief would not look..... i.e. the fridge, kitchen cupboards, back of the sofa, in the garage, even in the garden under rocks etc. .... you name it......

Probably quite a good idea if you don't have a safe or want the thief to find your safe and spend hours opening it to find nada.......

The trouble it he's not very organised, so writing down where he has hidden stuff is clearly far too sensible an option ........

His house is now a treasure trove full of lost stuff......which reappear from time to time.........He found some diamond cufflinks the other day in a ticket pocket in an old suit he was giving away to charity.......Had been lost for over 2 years!!! I'm sure there are a few watches around somewhere.......

There was a quite amusing thread here some time back, started by a poor soul who had dropped his watch on a hole behind a closet.

I tend to take off my watch as soon as I get home and put it back in the watch box. The only time I think I misplaced it is when I get home after a long night of drinking, the next day, sometimes i look for it longer than usual!

I have a few "go to places" in the house for when I take off my watch. So if I lose it then I check those places first..So far working well. I am now trying to make it a habit to take it off and leave it in my watch box when I come home. Not always easy when dealing with a 4 yr old that wants to play when you first walk through the door....And that's not even the dog ;)

Nope, never misplaced my watch at home or elsewhere. I do misplace stuff, more frequently now that I'm old, but I'm careful with my most treasured possessions.

Thieves nowadays have magnets so its hard to hide stuff from them, so probably best hidden/disguised with metal pots and pans.

Happened once when I was having a big party with some guests I wasn't that familiar with. But I found them right where I hid them, in the toilet tank.

funny you mention this as i have a 3 year old daughter and as i was frantically looking around for my sub last night I was a little worried that she might have hid it.

Funny enough I actually did. When i was in my storage room I took it off and put it on top of the filing cabinet to grab some stuff for my daughter.

Sounds alot like me. I use to hide my watches in all crazy spots. I even convinced my wife that putting her Rolex box in the closet was crazy. So i hid it somewhere in the house and now we cant find it.

First world problems i know
