Thinking about purchasing. Does this look legit?
Contemplating purchasing a white gold sub and wanted some thoughts from you guys on if this seems legit. I have not seen the watch in person yet and its a private seller so that scares me a bit. Watch is a V serial and just came back from Rolex with a complete service. I've attached some pictures. My only concerns are the guy says he is the the original owner but doesn't have a receipt because he bought it from a grey dealer and paid cash so no receipt was given. Warranty card is dated but name is left blank. Just wanted to see what you guys think overall. Guy hasn't seemed shady nor is he selling it for a "steal" but it is a very fair price compared to what I've seen here and other places. The guy is very firm on his asking price too so that kind of leads me to believe it's most likely legit. Anything look off to you guys?

Watch looks OK to me, I'd still be cautious. Does he have any feedback? What grey dealer did he get it from?

I'd pick the watch up in person but I'm no expert on fakes. My assumption would be if the service center paperwork is legit then the watch would be as well since they would have verified to service. Hence why I posted photos of the paperwork to see if it matches what others have gotten when they get a watch serviced from RSC. Watch is on craigslist

Since you are located in Florida, I would buy from a trusted seller on this forum name: ( DAVIDSW ) he is located in Orlando, Fl and he is wonderful to work with, and I guarantee you that you would not have to post anything like " Is this real or is this legit" when you purchase from him.
Follow you gut

Only you can decide if it's the deal for you..
Do not decide that "if the paperwork looks legit, the watch must be".. paperwork can be counterfeited much better than the watch can be.. As to Grey Dealers, they give receipts just like any other Dealer - perhaps he meant that it was bought from a re-seller.. The service, well, it too shows a client code from Italy and a V is pretty new to need a service; so there are still some questions here. bottom line, don't rely on a bunch of people on a Forum for justifying your purchase..

Complete Service? Did he do this to get an extended warranty, to get it ready to sell or was there something wrong with it?
Just remember that : everything that glitters is not gold ( white gold in this case ). If you really must have it, I would meet him at an AD and have the watch authenticated. The latest scam some people are using is: They are selling Legitimate Rolex watches but they report them stolen after they sell them to get the insurance money as well, so you end up not finding out until the next service or fix.

How new is this model? I can't imagine a WG Sub needing a service already.

Watch is a V serial 2008 warranty card dated 2009. So 5 years old.
Time collector- good advice on the new scam, never thought of that and I usually pay cash so there wouldn't be a paper trail to fall back on in that instance. As for some of the other posts, clearly I would have to inspect the watch have an AD look at it etc. I was just trying to do as much homework as possible prior. just wanted to get a few more eyes on it from a helping community (isn't that what forums are for?). From what I gather he bought it from a grey dealer for cash and didn't get a receipt... I'm assuming to avoid sales tax as it was purchased new. Watch looks good to me in photos and so does the paperwork but I admit I've seen some "is this real" posts on here, thought the watches looked good and a bunch of the more seasoned people said clear fake. So hence my post Seller's reason for service was he services his watches every 5 years and had it done a bit early to sell under the impression it would verify the watch is indeed real and not on rolex's stolen database as they clearly wouldn't service if it was. |

Davidsw has very good prices for everything he sells, but more importantly, he has an unassailable reputation. I've never worried for one second about the subc I bought from him, and I'm yet to see a price that was substantively better then what I paid. Just my own limited experience, though. Those smurfs sure do look nice!! |

Well you always "buy the seller" and if not a particularly great deal why take a risk as opposed to a trusted seller from this forum
Good luck beautiful watch!! |

F2F at an AD. Only.
Or, as the price is similar to other seen here, select another from a known vendor. |

But the seller. If the deal is one you can't refuse take the necessary precautions. Given the cost of this piece, I'd fly to meet the seller at an AD to have it checked out before buying.

Pricing is basically fixed on these. I'd be very wary if the deal is amazing.
Demand is high enough to absorb most supply of second hand pieces. |

Watch in that pic is real. You can confirm it's real gold as the weight is so much more than a fake, weigh them in an ADs first and you will know when you check it. Also check the serial no on the rehaut is the same as on papers so you know you are getting this actual watch. You can ask seller for pics of this now.
And you can also take it to an ADs for authentication if you are still unsure but the weight cannot be faked. And get a receipt/letter of sale from the seller so they cannot claim it was stolen later. But if he stole it then you will lose the watch to RSC. |

I appreciate the feedback from everyone. Can anyone tell me if the paperwork that comes with the watch all seems correct, especially the rolex service center work? Thats really the point of the post to begin with. I know to be careful and not throw caution to the wind |

Whats puzzling is I called the local AD "mayors jewelry" and asked if they could authenticate it and the lady told me "We would do an appraisal assuming its a real watch, we don't open it up or anything, we just go by book value and the year it was made." They would do this service for $85 which would be fair but makes no sense that they would just "assume" its real and send me on my way with an appraisal for insurance purposes. |

If you're in south Florida I can try to help. I've handled a few of these and would be
Comfortable authenticating one. If you really must have the caseback opened I have An option in coral gables. Pm me if you're interested. In general I'd stay away from Mayors. |

thanks Lgear! You've been nothing but helpful so far. Would calling the RSC that worked on the watch would they be able to confirm they did the service with the serial number. That would probably guarantee the watch is real. I will let you know if we can set something up!

I think they'd try to be helpful, but ultimately
The watch will speak for itself. The items the seller Posted all look good. If everything matches up and The watch is in good shape, that's really all I'd need To feel ok - aside from a price point I felt comfortable With. I'd be happy to give you an opinion on pricing, But the dealers on this site tend to be spot on with this Watch when it shows up. |
