Basel 2014 Rolex
Dear folks,
What do you think we will see at basel 2014? A ceramic pepsi GMT? or a completely new model? or a steel version of the SkyDweller? |

Think or wish? I think nothing really groundbreaking, no new models, no more pumped up watches (no 42+ mm Sub or 42+ mm Daytona). Probably just new variants of the Sky-Dweller, new dial options (e.g. black on black) to the Platona, and very-maybe RG GMT, WG GMT, Pt Sub, or RG Sub. I think the BLNR GMT is doing so well that the Coke and Pepsi variants will be postponed to 2015 or even later time for release.
What I wish for however is something really new stuff, like an OEM rubber strap (with a GlideLock-like clasp) option for the diving watches, ceramic or palladium case, perpetual calendar, or a completely anti-magnetic movement -- which would sadly mean the end of the current Milgauss line.

basel speculation is always good fun!
for sure: more ceramic bezel daytonas maybe: another GMT color combo (burgundy/black?) definitely not: gold explorer, bigger daytona, daytona w/ date |

For some reason, and maybe it's just me, but I feel if they make a pepsi GMT in ceramic that it will probably be in WhiteGold. Could be wrong though.... Only time will tell!

I think a TT SkyDeweller is possible, maybe even a TT with YG/WG? or PT/YG? I know Rolex has done that before.
Another thing that could be done is a few new dials on the DDII like they do all the time. A WG GMT would be cool ... A WG Daytona w/ Ceramic would be cool ... I dont see another BLNR type bezel, too soon, would kill the hype on the current one, also probably nothing new in platinum. I guess March 27th is not too far away. My bet is that Tudor does more awesome changes than Rolex. |

I don't see why releasing another bicolor gmt would be a problem for them. Didn't they release black and white versions of the daytona and expii at the same time?

^^This would be AMAZING! I have owned five 16600s through the years. I love the modern bracelet/clasp/bezel of the 116610 but find the DSSD a little too large/unbalanced to comfortably wear daily.
If they decide to release a RG TT SkyDweller...I will be the first in line.

I'm afraid if they offer bi-color insert options on their GMT that they will only be in precious metals ~ us SS guys will be still out.

Actually Rlx did succeed in creating a red blue ceramic bezel but the reason why it was never released is poor yields for this color combination. Apparently blue black has led to much better yields which is why it was launched last year. Hopefully they will resolve this problem once and for all.

I have no idea, but I would be shocked if they came out with ANY new bi-color bezel on the GMT right now and detract from the buzz over the BLNR. And it is highly debatable that Rolex is even interested in stepping back in time like that.
Now, if they came out with a vanilla coke GMT in stainless as some sort of homage to the mythical PanAm watch, I'd be at the door of my AD waiting for them to open in the morning so I could get my name on the wait list. But in any event I wouldn't be surprised if Rolex did expand the metal choices on the GMT and came out with some kind of WG version this year. Now, throw a white dial on this puppy and even I, a normally law abiding citizen, might be coerced to fly to Basel to attempt a smash n' grab. Note to self: Make sure I have an airtight alibi for my whereabouts during the Basel show.

You know what I want... Steel Day-Date II, as I couldn't afford a YG/WG/Plat DD.

42MM Sea-Dweller/Sub variant with proportional lugs, not a super-case. It will have all the bells and whistles!! They know if they do this, it will blow the "F" up and be the most demanded new piece in years!!

I don't think
I don't think they would produce a Coke or Pepsi in WG as that would be out of range for most people price-wise.
Don't see a 42mm proportional case Sub either as it would stop a lot of sales for the supercase. They've got themselves in a Pickle! |
