Oyster Datejust 1968 out of storage
Hi,
I have an Oyster Perpetual Datejust, Stainless Steel, Model 1603 bought in the UK in 1968. I have owned the watch since new. It has been storage for 25 years, and now it does not run. I would like to get it running and presume it needs an overhaul. Have looked briefly on Ebay and find several people offering to service it for $200 and up. Can I depend on watch servicers on Ebay, what do you guys recommend. Money is tight and it is my intention to sell the watch once it is running. I had 3 links removed back in 68 and of course I can't find them now. I assume they will need to be replaced to get the watch back original condition. There are no scratches on the glass and exterior condition is very good. Can anyone give me a ballpark value for the watch in running condition. Advice greatly appreciated. Al. |
