Saw that today. Just got to show that you need to do your due diligence on both what you are buying and who you are buying it from.

Definitely an unfortunate situation for him. But I wouldn't drop that kind of dough unless I was 100000000000000% sure of the authenticity.

Very unfortunate but how does one spend that much money without doing homework and being 100% sure? It certainly does not help to post pics and ask after the fact. Sorry for buyer and a painful lesson to learn. I only hope he can get his money back somehow but that won't be an easy feat I am guessing. This is why I only deal with a few people that I know well and trust.

At first glance I thought this was about someone losing $100 on a bogus vintage dial. It took me a minute to realize it was $100,000! I cannot imagine how that feels.

I thought the same thing when i read it earlier...
He seems way to calm and reserved in his posts for someone who was scammed out of $100K.
BTW...does it mention that he spent $100K? I don't recall seeing it.

Perhaps the guy is a troll...or perhaps he knows its a fake and is fishing the experts on the tell tale signs?

Makes me wonder since the buyer found his way to the vintagerolexforum.com to show his Sub, whether he was a member there before the purchase. Very sad story indeed.

Sad tale indeed. Bummer. But sorta makes me think that if someone has $100k to spend on a watch like that without getting it vetted and checked out, that's probably a person that can afford to lose $100k.

I am a skeptical re: this story, if he lost that much money he is way calmer than I would be. I would be on the next plane to the sellers address wherever that is in the world.

Sorry, I don't believe this story. I could be wrong, but based on what I see on VRF, it doesn't add up. What this "poor buyer" did end up getting, however, are details on why the watch looks fake. That could be helpful for the people who are making the fakes, of course.
