Now My Wife is Breaking My Stones
Any of you all have your significant other say go for it until the money is out of the account then I hear about all the practical things I should have done with the cash. Funny thing is, if it wasn't for me she would not have shit but now I get a Rolex and I'm an a-hole. WOW, I can't win.
It's OK I pay about 5k in bills per month but buy a watch and then being made to feel guilty is a kick in the ass. Where is judge Wapner? |

I'm lucky in that respect. I married the girl of my dreams. We both worked our a$$'s off to get to where we are today. She put up with lot's and lot's of long days, night shifts and stints away from home and never once threw it back in my face. Now, if she even sees me looking at a picture of a watch she tells me I should get it, I know she would probably rather that I didn't. But, she'd be all smiles if I walked in the door with one. Like I said, I'm very lucky

I sometimes work 70 hour weeks, mostly by choice, and Andie is always supportive and helpful with the kids and my crazy hobby. In fact it was her that said she missed the Blue Sub, so I felt compelled to get it again, LOL! I know that the harder I work the more not only can I buy watches but also enjoy family vacations and her Coach purse habit.

Yea, I hear ya and in many ways I am lucky as well. Been with her since 87 and married in 98. She just wants all bills paid and I try to tell er that all bills will never be paid. We are not extravagant, have no kids, have a single home in the Philly burbs too large for us, and we are very blessed. Only thing is I feel like more and more is always expected.
How about this...when tax refund comes, I will pick up a ND Sub:) |

I handle all the finances in our household, so there's very little that I hear from my wife. Now, I do talk to her about big purchases, and I consider buying a rolex to be a large purchase.
When I bought mine, I also bought her one. I didn't need to, but she needed a watch, so I got her one also. But bottom line is that she trusts me to be responsible and handle our finances correctly. |

I am also fortunate. My Wife knows that I would never spend what we couldn't afford so she has never said a word about my watch hobby. I buy a few, sell a few and not a peep. Even after my last fiasco where I thought I got ripped off for a lot of dough she was nothing but supportive.
Me lucky boy!

Separate but equal
I went through my first marriage with great kids and joint everything including financial planning. After my termination and subsequent financial destruction at the hands of the Massachusetts divorce courts I vowed never to get into the same situation again. I am now happily married [10 years] to a wonderful, self sufficient and loving person [women-this is MA...] She tolerates and bites her tongue regarding my Rolex fetish. However she did get pissed with me a few years ago when I mentioned I had bought an investment property earlier that day...
On the bright side she will get first dibs on the watches when I croak. |

I assume you took care of her on Valentine's day right? If not, get her something sparkly and then get the watch. She can't complain about that!

It's all about financial responsibility. After all it's only a watch. If your bills are paid and your future plan is in place ...your future plan is in place then you can pursue your habit with out regard.
Just work together as a team, keeping your future at the forefront and all will be well |

I always get permission first, except if it's a gift for her. So far I've bought two watches for me, and one for her. I'm winning...

It's great to have a wife that makes good $$$. We don't have the financial power struggle that many couples do. She gets her purses and shoes and I get my watches and golf. Thanks Mellon. We each get our own toys...guilt-free.

I hear ya...I save $ from xmass, birthday and a few side jobs. No "house" money! I'm I would guess in the low end of the income range here! So any extra money is hard to come by.

Same here, any woman telling you that you cannot get what you want when you can easily afford it is just trying to control like a lot of women try to do.
If you want it, get it. What is she going to do, divorce you because you got a watch? |

Your wife just wants something pretty and shiny too....my wife has a matching TT DJ to mine...and before I got my SS Daytona, I got her a bunch of $$$$$ David Yurman trinkets....plus I need to buy quite a few watches before I even come close to the amount of money I spent on her engagement ring at the end of the day, she's still way ahead of me

Wife lets me pretty much get what I like. I always advise her of a big buy though, unless it's for her. My wife's liberality and understanding is why my next Rolex is likely a lady DJ for her.

Luckily, me and my GF don't live together, and she does not mind my spending money on watches.

I married a geat woman as well. We've been together since '92 and married in 2000. She's stuck with me thru thick and thin, even when I didn't have a pot to piss in.
Now I've had a good job for almost nine years, work a lot of OT and she doesn't complain. She works full time too. So that's a plus. When I bought my Sub she said "OK." If we can afford it we but it, if not then we don't. But if it's a large purchase, we always communicate on it first. Things work out much better this way She's a wonderful woman

Kratzz,
Good luck my friend!! My wife and I have always kept separate accounts (her choice) and we meet in the middle when it comes to bills. She has never complained if I buy something and likewise I have never complained if she buys something... however she is very frugal Sean

Nope. Can't say I've experienced that. I have my own money to spend on things like Rolex watches and stuff. Nothing said. She has her own stash for whatever she wants, but she's very conservative as well. So I guess it's all good at my place!
