What is the cost for service from a Rolex AD or Rolex for a 5 year
old Daytona? |

My AD charges the same amount, regardless of the calibre: DKR. 2,600 (~ US $ 490).
But my guess it that service charges vary. Of course it also depends on what needs to be done. If excessive wear to parts has occured, the exchanging of those parts will make the price go up.

I believe the RSC charges more for the Daytona because of the extra complication. If I recall correctly they charge $650.

Just had my K serial 116520 done a month or so ago at RSC Beverly Hills. $650 was the charge.

That's what exactly an AD told me here in greece. They use to charge more due to it's complexity and technicians have to spend more time

I heard that the 16520 costs more as the Zenith movement is more difficult to work on. Anyone know the cost for a 15 year old 16520?

Sorry
I was just carrying on the discussion as it interested me. I didn't realise that this was actually hijacking so sorry for breaking any rules.
Other forums seem to allow an open discussion around a common theme (the cost to service a Daytona) so I'm surprised this is seen as "Hijacking". Oh well, I have learned something new today about this forum (that is if I have actually broken any rules!). Last edited by Gurmot; 24 February 2008 at 03:46 AM.. Reason: Sp |

Call an AD and ask. There are some in LA and SF. My Subs were under $400 each.

on topic:
Most chronographs actually function as two independent watches...the main time keeping function and the extra stop-watch function. Therefore, most watchmakers are actually servicing two watches when they overhaul a chronograph and their prices usually reflect this. The early Daytonas are this way. The latest Daytona movement, the 4130, is more highly refined by Rolex to run both functions off one main drivetrain... This makes it a bit smaller (thinner), a plus, and fewer moving parts, another plus.. Of course, this also means that it is one of a kind, so watchmakers need to be trained on this movement in order to overhaul it to Rolex specs...

Gurmot, this is all in good fun!! The only things guaranteed on this forum are: 1) All Posts are HiJacked,.. usually within the first two or three threads. 2) JJ will sell his current favourite Rolex eventually. 3) Sheep are the official mascots of TRF. |

A friend of mine just got his circa 2001 Daytona back from RSC, and his bill was about $1200 for routine service and parts replaced.
