Sizing an AP Bracelet

Easy to do?

Does an AP RO simply have screws in the last link / attached to the clasp?

Wondering if you can simply use a screwdriver Vs. pushing out the pins ala Omega. If so, which screwdriver do folks recommend?

If I get an AP in the not too distant future from TRF for example...the one AD in town says a sizing would "take a few hours" as I would have to leave the watch. He also asked several irrelevant questions which did not provide me with much confidence. Wondering if folks work on their own bracelets for the most part.

Thanks

yea u should leave it to the pros. i work as a mechanic and im very good with tools but they use some super loctite on there screws. i damaged one screw head and it costed me $6 for the screw and $30 shipping from ap clearwater. and also a trip to the local qualified watchmaker. people say to use a hair dryer or leave it in hot water but its still hard. good luck bud!

Buy a good Bergeon 1.4mm screwdriver, pre-heat the band with a hair-dryer on the opposite side of the screw-head till it's hot enough, not just warm. Then place the band on something stable where you can work confidently and it will loosen easily. I did mine like that and it's fairly easy. I don't trust any AD, I am much more careful.

don't forget to put back locktite 222 on the treads after, just a tad will do, no need to soak it in.

Proper tools and proper planing makes these jobs a charm.

Good luck.

Sizing an AP Bracelet

Thanks for the perspectives. I usually let my local RSC do any Rolex adjustments. They are pros and never charge for minor sizings.

My proactive inquiry to this AD didn't leave me with a great feeling after hearing the trepidation in his questions. Sounded like it wasn't something they did very often.

Perhaps he thought I would need extra links and he didn't have spares....or his watchmaker isn't on site.
