Rolex 1505 not glowing in the dark
Hey there!
I got a Rolex 1505 (presumably) from my grandpa buf after spending over 500€ on repairing costs it doesn't glow in the dark. Is there a way to change that glowing material? Is it worth it? I'll upload a pic from my desktop tomorrow (now I'm posting from my iPhone) Thank you for your kind attention |

That watch stopped glowing years ago!
I am sure you could find a way to replace the lume (glowing material) but that would mess up your (presumably) original dial and the vintage fans here would hunt you down. Do post some pics; that will help. Oh, and welcome to TRF!

I never found a single picture of this watch anywhere on the internet or in any other forum! Yes I agree it's kind of cool. I love it.

If you want a "glow in the dark watch", then spend $150 and get this watch.

1st, great watch congrats!
If this dial were replaced with a service model, if they in fact have a service dial for this watch, the lume material would be Luminova, as Padi said above, which at best is terrible at glowing in the dark with the exception of very large hands and markers (like the Seiko above)... The dial on your watch is leaning more towards dress than sport, so the lume plots and lume on the hands is in a very small amount...imho new lume would make very little to zero difference in low light visibility. If it were replaced with quality Tritium, that would be a different story but since that is no longer used by rolex, that is not going to happen. Trying to make it glow would only succeed in altering its original value, i am certain you would find the results would be disappointing and the cost would be significant. As is, Very nice watch:)

I agree with posts above. I would leave it be. That's a classic
