Deals in Toronto ?
Hello!
This is my first post...so I'll jump in.... I bought a new Sub 30 years ago in '84 now I want a SS Daytona I think I might be fooling myself hoping of some kind of deal on a Daytona but this is the place to ask... I have cash....been To Rafi in Yorkdale...nice staff none in stock and basically no deal Humbertown was just rude and basically laughed when I asked about a cash discount I think I'm kidding myself...but does anyone have any ideas for here in Toronto? Thanks! |

Welcome to the forum! Well, a deal on a Daytona is hard to find. Don't even bother with Van Rijk. A great place but the prices there are pretty much a few hundred less than the AD would charge for current models. Sean who owns watchfinder may be your best bet. On the site it has an option to make an offer on a piece (well in some cases) . A guy wearing a Deepsea I had a conversation with a few months back told me the prices are a bit higher now though, I guess that's inevitable since he opened that Yorkville location around Bloor street along with the other location on Eglinton.
http://www.watchfinder.ca/rolex He may be your best bet unless you can find someone selling directly which may be possible too. If you do, you can meet them at Damani Jewelers to have the on site watchmaker inspect it for you. Royal De Versailles does not have someone on site always as far as I know but they do appraisals so it should be no issue there either. I'm not affiliated with him (Sean) in any way but from my own experience shopping around he was the easiest to deal with in that sense. http://www.watchfinder.ca/inc/sdetai...-soon/81/11646 I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with those other places. It seems to be hit and miss depending on who you get to deal with. Pretty much none of the AD's will be able to sell it, as they tend to reserve them for previous customers. I've been to just about every place, even the one in Kitchener Ontario. PM me if you have any other questions. |

What's even more crazy is the fast that both him and Van Rijk are somehow taking a lot of trades and selling watches. Things certainly did change a lot after that Yorkville opening. He's already been to two of the dealers here in the GTA with no luck. I wonder if one of the smaller ones a bit further out would more easily sell the Steel Daytona to a new customer. I also think it's silly how they do this with the Daytona but in Canada (even Toronto) the market sucks compared to the options in the states.

Call ADs in another province. They will ship it to you and you might save extra cash on taxes.
You should be able to get some discount on an SS Daytona. 10-15% for non-repeat.

Thanks for the replies.. I appreciate all the words of wisdom.
I'm really looking to buy in the GTA area. It's strange to think that with cash in hand AD's will turn their backs selling a SS Daytona...never had that before, cash usually talks. I have gone to Watchfinders on Eglinton spoke with John nice guy but balboa73 is right almost new prices. For $1000 more I can get new instead of a 9 year old used. I might go to Damian today...phoned them earlier none in stock but it doesn't hurt to go in and talk..... Thanks again.... |

Go back to Raffi at Yorkdale and ask to speak to Vahee the owner. He's a super terrific guy, and he'll work out a deal for you.
Good luck |

Yeah, Royal De Versailles is still at the same location, 101 Bloor West. La Difference Time is the one that moved elsewhere. They're in Richmond Hill now I believe. Apparently Royal De Versailles has the largest selection in Canada if I recall correctly.

Congratulations! I'm so glad it all worked out for you in the end. Sean is a good guy, I sort of sensed he was willing to take offers. It's nice to spend the cash locally sometimes instead of importing. Not to mention you had a fantastic experience to make up for the previous. Enjoy in the best of health! |

I bought my Sub from Timeless Watches in Montreal last month and they had a Daytona Black dial for sale G series and now they have a White Dial Daytona as well. They are second hand but barely used. 95% new. price was 10k cash for Black Dial. I remember cause he was trying to up sell me the Daytona while along he knew i wanted the Hulk. The guy was like This Hulk is so Rare Blah Blah Blah and on top of that its from a Canadian AD so that makes it Rarer. I was like I don't give a shit about how rare it is Just Give It To ME. I paid 8500$ taxes in. G series Hulk. Funny thing is 2 weeks later he has another Hulk Random serial. So he lied to me. They are all dirty liars AD's. Looking to hype their product up for the quick sale. But hey if your looking for a deal on a Daytona Timelesswatches.ca check them out. Only 5 hours away by car.
Yours truly, The Hulk. |

When you guys say you got 20% off sticker price plus tax or 20% off sticker all in?
I'm in the GTA and will be buying another watch soon (either GMT llC maybe BLNR or a Tudor) and just trying to figure out what to ask going in. Btw, I bought my SubC LV from Knar in Oakville two years ago and have been in many times since. They're laid back and take their time to talk and answer questions and no pressure to buy ever.

When I purchased my Omega back in 2007 from an AD downtown Toronto it was something like 25% off the list price, plus tax. At the time I wanted a brand new Z Submariner badly and one of the shops on Bloor street had them going for $5,750.00 out the door. Looking back on things after the new models were released those days are long gone (in that price range).
They'll either offer it to you as one final price so psychologically you don't factor in the tax paid or show you the new list price with the discount first like the lady did for me. I'm also interested to hear what the others have to say about their past purchases. |
