2 2 Questions for the esteemed posters of TRF:

1). Is the WG Pepsi really worth a 30K+ price tag?

2.) Does the SD4000 offer any advantages to a Submariner or DSSD?
Seems pricey at 11K+

1) it's a luxury good so "worth" is a personal decision

2) goes deeper than a submariner, isn't as thick as a DSSD and doesn't have a cyclops

1) Well, lets put it this way.. If I have $10K in my savings account then its not worth it. If I had $1M in savings, then this watch is cheap.

2) To my knowledge no, just the difference in depth ratings

2) Greater depth (who care?), and infinitely better looks (I care). It's expensive, but so is every other Rolex in the world.

1) I think, yes. I don't have the $$ for it right now, but the new GMT is so stunning, IMHO it's worth saving up for it.

2) IMHO the new SD is no better or worse than the Sub-C, it's just different. If you want a big Rolex diver --> DSSD. If you want a Rolex diver without date, with a clean and symmetric dial --> 114060. If you want a Rolex diver with date, and don't mind having a cyclops --> 116610. If you want a Rolex diver with date, and you hate the cyclops --> SD4000. Rolex has a perfect diver for everyone

At $43K and $11K, they are priced out of my comfort range.

For me the Pepsi would be worth its price if it swept me off my feet, but so far I'm not convinced about the colours they have used, esp the purple in that video is concerning. So until I see it in the flesh I am not sold. If it wows me in person then I would pay for one at the best price I could get.

Well, regarding the Pepsi, something is "worth" the asking price if the customer is willing to pay it. I would hazard a guess that this watch will fall into that category for many.

As far as the new SD: yes, there are advantages over the Subc and the DSSD. Does it justify the price tag? Remains to be seen, but my money would be it will have a strong following just by the reception here on TRF.

Just my two cents.

Where are people getting the pricing info of $43K from?
It doesn't seem to make sense to price it at $7K higher than the WG Submariner.
I expect it to retail in the $36K USD range.

Indeed. And these pieces are priced, and positioned, exactly where other comparable Rolex watches are.

I will go against the grain and say no it is definitely not worth 40k, that's a ridiculous price even if it is white gold.

Is a painting can really be worth 50 million dollars? It is to someone who buys it.

The WG is expensive but for people like Bill Gates or Zuckerberg or the multi-millionaires and billionaires of this world then it is like buying Timex to them since they earn billions/millions.
