New Daytona Rose Gold
First post so be gentle.
Recently purchased a new rose gold Daytona and am quite surprised how noisy it is when you move your wrist. Rolex say this is quite normal and thats its part of the movement of the watch. previously had a GMTII which was very different. Anybody shed any light on this please. |

First of all Welcome to TRF. I dont think the 4130 should be noisy or feel a great vibration when you move the watch around your wrist. Just to be sure, you're not talking about the noise the bracelet is making right? It is best to bring the watch to the RSC just to make sure everything is fine with the movement. I assume you asked the salesperson vs the watchmaker at the RSC.

welcome and agree with above. Daytona shouldn't be making noise like an AP or others would with the rotor.

I have a Panerai and the movement is fairly loud with the P9000 movement, however, I have never heard the rotor on my Explorer II or Datejust II.

To my knowledge modern Rolex movements in general are very silent, and the rotor reacts to the slightest movement.

Welcome to the forum, just bought the Daytona 116515, rose gold also, and yes the movement is very noisy, not at all like my sub, and apparently yes it's normal, so don't worry.

The bracelet does squeak, but the Daytona itself is very quiet.

Mine is about 7 years without service (probably needs one soon) It's been silent up until the last year. Now the rotor is starting to make a little more noise than normal. I think they should (and will most likely) check it for you.

I never noticed any movement noise in my RG Daytona or any other Rolex for that matter

Dear all
This has been discussed before. The Daytona movement is based on the Zenith movement so it does have a rotor. This watch will make more winding noise than other auto rolexes but not as much as a Panerai eta, ap or zenith. If you feel it is too loud, take it to an ad and review another Daytona to verify your sound level. |

I said the 4130 is based on the zenith. Its a different rotor pivot system, using ball bearings rather than the usual Rolex rotor axle bushing.
That is why the noise is at times prevalent. But there are different noise levels and just go and compare to a few other daytonas to see where the OP's watch is. |

Sounds very strange to me...I've never heard my Daytona at all.

Hi all. Just to clarify.
For the OP, when do you hear the noise? On the wrist NO WAY do you hear the same noise as a Panerai. But, I have a few all the same, hold it to your ear and move it around one does hear the rotor winding. It is faint but there. Initially I did go to my RSC in Dubai and it was explained to me and then I searched on line. Google and this question will show up. But, if the noise is heard from the wrist or away from the ear, them there maybe an issue. |

Well I can tell you first hand that on my 116523 it's more noisy than any other Rolex I've owned or have when moving my wrist around while close to my ear. However I can not hear any noise period otherwise while wearing and I seriously doubt mine has any mechanical issue. It's a week old and never made it to any display case. The day it arrived from Rolex it was shipped to me in its watch coffin.
I assume its normal. Besides I'm not in the habit of shaking it while close to my ear. Lol. Congrats on your new Daytona. I'm absolutely in love with my Panda dial.

My Daytona also has rotor noise, but it's way more quiet than a 324 Patek movement.
