GMT II 116710 BLNR on ebay - real or fake?

I'm not bidding on this, but still curious about the authenticity. First of all, the seller has zero feedback. In one of the pics, you can see that the serial number on the rehaut starts with an "M". I'm pretty sure there are no M series BLNR's. The font color for GMT Master II on the dial looks wrong, as well. I can't believe the bidding is over $5k.....

Well, I'm certainly no expert, but I'll comment, for what it's worth.

Fakey bakey! At the very least, it's a Frakenwatch slapped together from several perhaps real Rolex parts and some aftermarket / homemade stuff.

OK. You're right... Just a bad attempt to fool someone out of their money. I have been taken advantage of 2 times in my life on Rolexes. Many years apart, but each time left an impact. I'm so glad I found this forum and am no longer hesitant to ask.

Many people have reported it to ebay, but it is still listed. Someone is going to be scammed.
Hard to believe that someone is going to fork over that kind of money to a seller with absolutely no history.

For what it's worth, the seller is insisting that it's real. I asked him if it was 100% authentic and original (knowing full well that it's not), just to see what he would say. He assured that it is. Really hard to believe someone is willing to pay that kind of money with all the red flags.

It may be trying to mislead you by intentionally confusing the situation with semantics. Ass in... what is his definition of "real"? Like, was the Frankenwatch made with some real Rolex parts? That may be "real" to him....or at least that's what he's projecting.

Ask why there BLNR he is selling seems to have green lettering on the dial? Hmmmmm when was that made? Perhaps he will say it was a special edition.

If the seller has zero history, chances are that it is probably a fake; or they dont even have the watch.

Edit: I own the watch, and I have compared it to mine, it is 100% fake

Yeah, although eBay seems to give the appearance of caring about quality in service, I guess they make their money on the actual transaction. Hence, if it is returned, or the customer is disappointed it really doesn't concern them....they still get their piece.

Am I missing something? Perhaps I don't grasp their business model? Or, perhaps I do.

Nothing to grasp. They get the listing fee and 10% of the bid.

It's ridiculous that it's still there and an obvious fake. Crown guards are wrong. Wrong dial, blue to black transition on left side is in the wrong place. Horrible, sloppy blue bleeds over into the black above the 6 marker on the bezel. Sad.

Wow. Someone's convinced it's real...it's been bid up even more with 2 1/2 hours left. Crazy!

The clasp (placement of the crown) is obviously wrong as well.

I have reported it one last time reminding EBay that its an offence to sell counterfeit items and to protect their customers. Quite hard in 100 words.........
