help did i buy a fake?

hello all my main concern is that the watch has etching/engraving "STAINLESS STEEL BACK DEVILLE SWISS MADE" on the back of it with the rolex crown in the middle, the watch is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Men's Daimond chronometer. its an old version/vintage model i don't know the date it was made but i have a few numbers from the bracelet

62523n.18

d12

045

does anyone have any idea what these numbers mean?

sorry for being so vague about the watch but that is all the info i know thank you for taking the time to read this looking forward to reading your replies

If it says "STAINLESS STEEL BACK DEVILLE SWISS MADE" my bet is fake. I've never heard of a real Rolex with that on the caseback, or anywhere else on it.

hi guys thanks for the replies when i receive the watch i will post new pics unfortunately eBay has removed them.

crown collection its interesting you should say D12 is a common fake date code thanks for letting me know.

what about the rest of the numbers like 62523n.18
i haven't seen the dot between the N and 18 anywhere most pictures i see have a hyphen does this also ring alarm bells?

drifter i also haven't seen "STAINLESS STEEL BACK DEVILLE SWISS MADE" on any rolex too.

You should be calling Paypal immediately! Waiting for the watch only delays the fraud that is taking place!

is the watch steel or two tone, band 62523 H-18 is a two tone reference number, so if its steel you are in trouble straight up, eitherway with that back it's fake, those are usually clear caseback with that prinitng, is yours ?

Crown pretty much nailed it on the head. Ebay really isn't a place you want to buy watches on top of that. We report fakes all day long to Ebay. Sometimes they pull them other times they don't. If you are going to buy it's best you post photos here 1st to get some feedback. My 2 cents...

I am willing to bet a substantial amount that it is a fake without pictures. Sign into E-Bay click on purchases and there is the 'Watch' you have apparently bought. Save pictures and post here no need to wait for it to arrive.

Something not adding up here.......

hi all ok where shall i start so many questions thanks again for all your advice,

let me answer the main question that stood out to me which is why on earth did i pay for the item before i checked it out well the answer is plain and simple stupidity and im fine with admitting that, because its true its a mistake i wont be making again especially now i have joined a forum full of amazing helpful people like yourselves.

i hope to collect buy and sell rolexes out of interest and having a hobby which could be quite profitable and fun at the same time.

Good news is after i finished work today i called up eBay and they where kind enough to send me any pictures they had on their database so here they are:

Now theres 3 possibilities here

1)the strap and the back cover are fakes because the previous owner might have replaced the parts with fake parts if they were damaged.

2)everything on the watch is fake except for the mechanism inside the watch.

3)its an out right fake.

and none of them options sound good lol what do you guys think?

It's an outright fake. Look at the clasp. It has unintelligible gibberish written on it. "SNSAWABE"??? And the watch is definitely fake. I highly doubt the mechanism is original given the rest of the watch.

Like someone previously said, you should ask your money back without any further delay.

The watch is a fake and the seller a scammer - you'd better act quick!
