Good Rolex Story Plus a Good Rolex Picture

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a fantastic end of May. One of the many great things about Rolex for me is the stories behind the watches and the enthusiasm and pride they can generate so I thought I would share a Rolex related story that happened in my life this week.

As many of you know, I am the general manager of a relatively young Porsche Centre. It is a fast paced demanding job with long hours and lots of responsibility. I wouldn't trade it for any other job though. It's now in my blood. The past two years our Porsche Centre has won the coveted "Premier Porsche Dealer" award which is based on a large cross section of business performance metrics (not just sales). I purchased my first Rolex (DJ 116200) last January after the first win and my second (116710BLNR) this February after we won again. So for me Rolex is very much an award for achieving the goals I set out for this business.

Anyway, this week we hosted a number of VIPs from Porsche Cars Canada including the President himself. I decided I would personally pick him up from the airport (in a Panamera S E-Hybrid). En route I was a bit anxious about what we might converse about as I had only met him briefly on one previous occasion. Upon his arrival we got into the Panamera and most likely because I wear my watch on my right wrist, one of the first things he mentioned was that he really liked my black and blue GMT. Eureka! He is a Rolex guy too! He was wearing his 42mm ExplorerII polar. Conversation flowed easily from there.

It seemed to be a Rolex kind of week after that. We arranged a tour of a local brewery for the President (as he is a bit of a beer enthusiast) and the brewery manager was wearing a nicely aged Pepsi GMT. The next day one of my sales consultants was presenting a married couple with their new Cayenne and I noticed the wife was wearing a gorgeous yellow gold Datejust with a diamond set dial and president bracelet.

All in all it was a great Rolex week. I wore my 116200 to the celebratory lunch for the Premier Dealer award yesterday and managed to take my best ever photo of 10:10 / 28 just before. So to wrap up this long Rolex story here it is. Thanks for reading:

Thanks my friend however the bonus doesn't quite cover the cost of getting a Rolex every year... Plus I have to really start thinking about post secondary education for my kids. I'm in my happy place with the two pieces for now. Cheers.
