Hey There

Hi. My name is Adrian and I have recently become a member of your great forum. I have acquired a YM but the other night I bumped it and something happend. Can anyone guess what it is? As I far as I know the watch is real, but I have not come across another watch with the black hour markings with silver trim. The only ones with black markings that I have seen have had gold trim. I have spent many hours the past few days learning as much as I can about these watches. Well here are some pictures...Enjoy

The last picture was taken before I cleaned it.

Great looking watch - it's not a Rolex though. Hope you didn't pay a lot. Have you opened it to look at the guts?

Welcome to the forums Adrian!

I'm very sorry to say but it doesn't look like a genuine Rolex to me. There has been no stainless steel Yacht Master with a platinum bezel that came with a white dial. That version you have in stainless steel only came in a platinum dial to match the bezel. The white dial is only available on a two tone or all yellow gold Yacht Master from what I have seen.

Oh and what happened to the 9 o clock hour marker? It went missing from the dial...

It may be that somebody mistreated the watch and took off some of the original parts. See if you can open up the watch and look at the movement inside. It should have a caliber 3135 movement on there.

Grappling at straws here...but even the case doesn't look original, unfortunately. Who would put a genuine movement into a fake case, with a fake bracelet and dial?

I would try to get my money back any way possible. Very sorry to see this happen. Hope it didn't cost too much. Please keep up us posted!

Hi Adrian, welcome aboard!

As others have said, the watch isn't authentic.

1. The font is wrong on the 4 in 40 on the bezel.

2. That dial wasn't available with the Plat/SS version

3. The font is wrong on the "M" in Master.

Common on fakes for the centre "V" in the M to extend down to the baseline, whereas on authentic dials it only extends down to the hyphen. Compare yours to the authentic one below it.

Gotta agree with all! That watch is a counterfeit.

I hope you did not pay much for it!

Yes.
  • And the colour of "Yacht-Master" is completely wrong. Should be the same colour as the red second's hand.
  • The hour marker at 9 is missing
  • The rehaut is shiny as a mirror - should be satinated.
  • The end pieces are poorly fitted (gap)
  • The date magnification is not perfect
  • "SWISS MADE" at 6 poorly printed
  • LEC is WAY too obvious, especially on a white background.

The 9 hour marker isn't missing, it's stuck to the bottom below the swiss made.

Well I guess it is not real. I haven't been able to open it yet because I don't have the right tools. Is there any way to open it beside buying the tools? The nine o clock indicator fell off when I bumped it. It's funny how far they go with these replicas it has the LEC and when you remove the brace it is engraved "original rolex design etc etc and the model #.

The "right tools" for a fake Rolex!! Now I've heard it all!!!

Why on earth would you want to spend your precious $$$ on a set of expensive tools to open up a POS???

And did you knowlingly buy that fake....or is there some other story behind this fiasco?

JJ

you can open the back by using some duct tape. unhook the bracelet on one side so you can lay it out of your way. stick some tape across the back, grab the pieces sticking out on each side in your fist and twist it counter clock wise.

the crown is also too thick. sorry man.
