That's an excellent point. Really seems like an oversight or mistake.

I remember back when these new 8-days were announced, the speculation was that OP was trying to keep the models as low-priced as possible and a PR would have added a few hundred. I'm not so persuaded by that argument, as these are luxury products with huge markups, so, a PR would not necessarily *have* to add hundreds to the price.

It could have been like on the 422.




And it would have made the back of the 510 a bit more pretty/interesting:

That sure is a dull-looking movement. The decorated ETA was much easier on the eye, and doubtless cheaper/easier to have serviced/repaired.
Agreed regarding pricing - I can't imagine that adding a simple PR indicator would've made much difference. Seems a bit cheap of Panerai not to have done this

I like everything about the 510 except that the movement doesn't look pleasing to the eyes.

I mean I even like how the P3000 movement on 372 looks, but the new 8 day movement just doesn't looks very attractive to me ...

I like it, its an upgraded 111. But the 111 is the classic. I don't feel the urge to flip my watch for this one because of the movement. 8 days power reserve is nice, but I don't mind winding my Pam at all.

That's why I'll always keep my 111 I love winding my pam

I like the watch in photos. However, in person, it just didn't have the snap I was looking for.

And, as others have wisely mentioned, no PR is really annoying.

As an owner of the 422, I really almost need the PR, as otherwise I truly forget how much I have left.

In addition, I keep the 422 close to wound fully so it keeps better time.

Ultimately, I think there are better options for the money.
