Paperweight
Just came across this on Facebook's Vintage Rolex Forum, posted by another member and thought I'd share it... I like it!

You'll love it until you see the price of one in the FS section!

Yeah... a "Triplock" Salviati glass crown paperweight with the "Wave" pattern on the base but lacking its box would be about USD 300... 500 is over the top imho.
The 2005 Twinlock Salviati paperweight with box and leather pouch however is USD 1,000+ these days..

It's cool looking, but a little tacky. It's like screaming to your co-workers, "look at me. I have a ROLEX."

Many Rolex related merchandise can get very expensive on the secondary market...but the items are really cool looking. It would be fun to start a collection but be prepared to have deep pockets!!!

Personally, I find especially the green Salviati paperweight one of the nicest and most discreet Rolex accessories ever made... it's made by the famous Italian Salviati glassworks and is a piece of art in its own right. It doesn't even say "ROLEX" but just has that crown embossed on it... I believe I have all paperweights commissioned by Rolex and made by other companies, including a frosted glass cube, a heavy bronze and a Sterling silver one...all of them say "ROLEX" except that Salviati crystal paperweight in the green Rolex corporate colour. Most "tacky" Rolex accessory would be the "Rolex Cap" imho... now I have quite a few versions of Rolex caps (one of them not having been commissioned by Rolex, btw) but apart from one time long ago when I wore a Rolex cap on a pic posted here in connection with (I think it was a group buy??), I could never see myself wearing a Rolex cap in public... it's just tacky if you ask me.

Funny, I just posted this pic a couple of min ago in another thread about how my Brother in law won this tourney but never got a watch...this is what they gave him. A paper weight essentially.
Then I noticed this thread |

I'd rather use the $1000 towards a Rolex that screams I have a Rolex rather than I have $1000 glass Rolex paperweight

Looks Great. There is a seller on eBay in the Netherlands that has a few for sale. Around 700 USD I think.

But only to those that were willing to pay for something that was given away free for marketing.
