Hi guys,

Looking to call on your experience in regards to a watch my friend is selling. I know he has some real rolex's as I've seen the recipts of purchase but he doesn't have a recipt for this one and I was wondering what everyone's opinion was. Thanks in advance.

First off it's got a coating on it.

It may be authentic, but rolex will never service it.

It also probably has a reduced resale value. Many less buyers out there for a watch modified in such a way.

That said, I love it.

If you don't trust you friend tho, don't buy it.

DSSD was introduced in 2008 with V serials which only came with credit card warranties - not blank papers, wooden box, wrong pillow, or crap hang tag.

That's what I had read to Kilyung and made me question it, plus his keenness to sell and price are all red flags, when I say friend it's a friend of a friend. Ha

Appoligies if I've took a wrong step I'm only trying to establish if it's authentic as I was interested in purchasing or getting it inspected. Thanks for the advice.

This thread should become closed soon. Clearly a sad attempt pure fake. That dial is a mess. Then all sorts of oddd-bits ebay packaging that does not match itself nor the age the watch would have to be to have been PVD'd straight onto a new Rolex.

Your friend is no friend if he is asking you to buy this.

I wouldn't get anything PVD coated .... It's not like changing a dial which can aleays be changed beak

I knew that it was fake because the bezel triangle thingy is pointing down by the 5 o'clock marker. Everybody knows that it's supposed to line up exactly to the 12 o'clock line..

Did your friend also happen to purchase a "GMT 11" sea king edition?

This is very funny. Blank guarantee card from the 90s, awesome non period box and hangtag and cushion. The watch itself looks okayish (but I know prohunter has a single red pvd series) and the Jacques edition has an engraved caseback and lots of fakes

Stay away. T

If it was the case it would come in a very special box and papers, just search on the internet you'll see what I mean, and the case back of the Jacques Piccard are all engraved with the number and it seems to me have a picture of a diver engraved or something like that, you should see all that should you make a google search. Everything sounds fake… So I say NO...

I have a feeling my friend may of been had off his friend, when I questioned that all after 2007 are new credit card style guarentees he said he got on for Xmas and it had on old certificate. As I've only seen pictures of the watch above I asked to meet him at a local watch Valuer today before purchase he's went quiet..... Strange!

Box is fake, paperwork is fake, take a wild guess about that watch... the DLC fad is pretty much dead by the way anyway. People got keen to the bracelet flaking issues and such
