Help! The clasp push button on my royal oak is missing!

Hey guys
I went to take off my watch tonight and was very sad to notice the button that goes in the butterfly clasp is gone!
I know some others have had this issue and I was hoping someone could chime in on how to go about having this fixed ?
I just bought the watch earlier this year and have not sent in for the 3rd year warranty yet.

This is the first time I've seen this happening. Bad luck mate, I'm sure the warranty will cover that - just bring it to your AD or send it to a service center

It's a common problem. While the service centre could replace the screw, you could try to insist that they change the clasp for you. I suspect they have newer ones that has a slightly more robust design. Make a fuss and they may throw in a free polish. As far as I know, this is a common and known problem for this RO, but it seems to me that instead of a recall, the decision is to service the problem as it appears. Not good in my view for a watch priced at this level.

When you recovered it we're you able to put it back on yourself ?
I think I will call the Clearwater service center today. I never sent an ap out there , do they send a box to ship it in with packaging material or am I on my own?

I took it to my AD. They fixed for me. Anyhow I have been checking and rechecking to see if the screws start to loosen up. I even took a pic of the clasp to remember how the screws are aligned.

Hope this helps.

I will ask this but I prefer to skip the Polish. The watch is still in immaculate condition.

You should express your disappointment. When I sent my 15400 in bc it was running fast, I received a prepaid shipping label.

Go to fedex and tell them what you are shipping, they have a special watch box with bubble wrap - the watch will be perfectly protected.

Good luck

Hi Tom, we are on the same boat!
I had mine 15400 got the same problem a month ago. I didn't realise that the push piece of the clasp has a loosen screw that the whole push piece was lost. I went to the CS to claim the repair and I was offered a whole new clasp as replacement but I have to wait for a month for the ordering from Switzerland.

Here's my case - exactly the same situation as yours.

I now having the clasp replaced and the new clasp has a different design of the push piece than the previous one, which the new one has a more robust design and longer screw.

Looks like AP is having knowledge of the clasp design problem and got a new one ready as replacement.

Don't be upset by this incident. The APCS will take care the repair and I still have full confidence till now on the quality of our beloved AP!

Thanks Alex, I called them on my drive to the office this morning. I insisted it was not right that I pay for my own shipping on a defective brand new watch. They claim that for insurance purposes they will not give me a label maybe I caught them before their morning coffee?

Thank you for this information , I have written a stern letter claiming my collector friends informed me there is a better designed clasp and that I would like mine replaced as well. I really appreciate that info!

So all in all I have to pay my own shipping which is//
But In the process I will also receive my third year warranty sticker which i was not planning on sending for until the 2 years were almost up but o well..
I still love the watch though, looks like I will be wearing the DDII till then.
AP's are beautiful and I will still buy from them but the truth is Rolex is ROCK SOLID when it comes to their product reliability (case and movement), after 5 Rolexes, not one problem.

P.S. I shamefully stated in the AP letter that a Hat or awesome AP Travel case may appease my pain... LOL

That sucks. Must've changed their policy.

Option B is to bring it the boutique in the city and they will send it for you for free.

Either way, you have a DDII to hold you over

AP told me I could drop off at the boutique at no cost to me but I have read some horror stories on here from other members receiving their watch back scratched up and in all these instances it seems it was boutique drop off related. I figure who will do a better job packaging the watch for safe travel than the owner>? I don't need the boutique guys taking my watch for a weekend test drive LOL. It was a fair option though however.

Same thing happened to my new 41mm ROC. I took it into the AP Boutique on 57th street and they replaced the missing screw/piece (and applied some loctite) on the spot. No charge. I hadn't bought it from there either. I'm sure they'll do the same for you.

It is design flaw! It happened to 15400 and 15202. At least three of my friends had this issue.

They replace on the spot? Now this I would be interested in. I will see if I can make it there soon, no sense in sending to Florida if they can fix it in the boutique. Plus I can look at some offshores

UPDATE:

Instead of sending the watch to get fixed in FL. I decided to call the boutique thanks to the advice on this forum. The people in the forum were fantastic (Emma for placing the overnight delivery order of the spare part, Derek for putting the button on and Mark for showing me the new model offshores as well as a nice glass of sparkling water!)
Kudos to AP and their wonderful service

I must say the new Ulysee Nardin boutique has some awesome stuff!
they had Freaks in there as well as some repeaters! I wish i had more time to try them on but i was in a hurry. I do think however their new manufacture in house GMT is gorgeous! They told me they are starting to phase out all ETA movements and do it all completely in-house.

But the Navy they will throw in the Leather strap for free with the orange stitching
Actually, the rubber strap is so comfortable it blows away the leather.

I actually prefer the old style Safari which they also still have but at no discount.
