The New 42 RG ROO

Anyone on TRF buy this model yet. Pics & experiences will be greatly appreciated. I am on the fence and need a little nudge. Also do you guys think this model will make the AP Hall Of Fame 😉

Steve : I do love the bracelet version as well as AP has slimmed the heft of the bracelet. Both great pieces in my mind but bracelet version is unattainable. Getting the strap version at 25% off makes me think it might be a very slow mover.

Not sure I like the dial. Colour just does not work for me.

I was tempted by this piece. I really wish they would've kept the previously version of the RG RC with the gray dial, gold surround on the registers, but use ceramic bezel and pushers. In fact, if they ever did this, I will gladly buy one.

Now that's a entirely different watch 😜

That exactly is the hesitation. The mustardy dial but I do love the gold bezel with the black subdials with the black ceramic pushers and the transparent case back with the gorgeous 18K rotor.

That's my feeling as well.

Everything works on the watch except the dial. Love the case and finish - would've chosen a different dial...

Agree, old grey dial would have been much better than custard/mustard.

Not a fan of the Gulden's Spicy Brown Mustard Dial myself....Sorry!

Now had it been black dial or dark grey yes all day!

Methinks you need the black bezel to make the RG case pop. The "mustardly" dial also blends with the RG bezel and case and is too monochromatic.

Me too!

I also saw in flesh and was not a fan. The things I liked were the see thru case back, strap and buckle. The watch itself...Not for me.

I have tried it and not impressed. The mustard dial is a major turn off. It also should come with a ceramic bezel.

Hi all,
I took a long time sourcing for my first AP. My initial top choice was the RC RG, then I fell in love with the 44mm RG but eventual I bought this new 42mm RG 3 days back :)
It was a tough call as I like all 3. Ultimately the new movement, pin buckle that fits my small wrist, and the fact that it is very different from my many other black dial watches made the difference.
I am very happy with the watch so far and it looks better every day :)

Congratulations and welcome to trf!

Please post some wrist shots if you get time. We would love to see it in natural lighting.

i'm in the camp of "dial is off" and better with ceramic bezel, but, for someone looking for a lot of gold color, this is the ticket.

I have tried this one on at the local AD. Yes I liked the look of it. AP's designers are the decision makers and we are the validators. If we agree with the design we buy, if we don't it sits. I personally like the dial. My biggest concern is the bezel. It will not take much wear to cover it in marks, no matter how careful you are.

And most dealers I know who have these can't move them and I see very few members who have one. Usually when AP puts out new models we see many more incoming threads. JMHO....To each his own of course but I don't see this as a big seller or popular choice among AP enthusiasts.

Yes Ken, that's the felling I have thus the hesitation. I've been offered it for 25% off by an AD. When was the last time a new release by AP was markdown that much.
