Okay everyone, what's NOT good to see at Basel?
Hi guys! Good to see you all! Everyone is hyped with speculation and desires for Basel, including me. I was thinking the past few days about things I'd go for quickly, and then about the speculative changes to the SD and Sub that I wouldn't appreciate too much (Why tamper with an icon, after all?).
And that had me considering what I'd really NOT like to have turn up. It can be anything, really, ranging in severity from a Leopard something-or-another, to just a rubber strap like on the Zebra DJ. Some folks want a date & cyclops on the Daytona, others don't like the idea. Some like anti-reflective coatings, some don't. One word before we start, though! BE NICE! This thread is only to stir the pot and have a little reverse-psychological fun! Just to change the usual spin on things, that's all.

1) A 500,000 mm. SD with ceramic bezel and rose gold with leopard-on-rubber inserts
Realistically, I do NOT want to see the SD changed at all! SNB |

I guess I wouldn't mind a ceramic bezel on the Sub, but it would need to look like the curerent one on both it and the SD in order to keep the current asthetics intact. I do NOT want to see a supercase Sub or SD!!!
Now, a newer clasp, red lettering, and the return of lug holes would be a different matter. A parachrom hairspring is probably happening, and admittedly a welcome upgrade for everyone. Just me and MHO...

With the rising prices of gold it's quite possible.
But if you look at it from a different angle your watch will go up in value

Just don't bling out the SD or the Sub, leave the "TOOL" watches alone. Wanna ruin your history, put polished links on the SD.....

I am going to buy a black dial explorer II and i hope that prices will not increase until november. The funny thing is that prices in greece are still the same. We didn't have any price increase yet |

I'd be very surprised if the SD or the Sub gets more polish.

Would you guys be satisfied if rolex would introduce a new SD and a new sub but wouldn't discontinue the old ones ? So people would have the chance to own both old and new models

We still have the old price so far and most of the AD's told me that we will not have a price increase here cause they allready received the price lists for 2008

That 's strange
Also, Frostie, have you noticed (I don't know if you 've travelled in many countries abroad) that in Greece - contrary to every other place, even UK - we have all the models of Rolex, even those where in other countries they have waiting lists..? God, I was walking and checking ADs in Athens and I saw every single model that exists....then, here and in my travel in other countries, I realised that some models are a bit on the scarce side...

Men we have every single rolex but those ad's are so GREEDY They want 11.500 euro for a daytona what the hell. We have lots of SS daytonas but they don't reveal them to you if you don't show some extra cash. I think that the demand is a bit low though for rolex watches here in greece JMO Bulgarians have much better prices only 7000 euro for a BNIB daytona but the rest of the prices are quite similar with few exceptions We are one of the few countries that have a rolex affiliate and that's rolex hellas SA. Everose would be a bad idea for the sports series JMO
