I posted this in the "Hell Cat" thread a month or so ago. Anything Steve McQueen related brings a premium, had this indeed been the NART that was unfortunately totaled it would have been a 30 million plus car...

Don't get me wrong the Viper and Vette are it as far as serious American made road-course cars but while it might be faster then most everything else its butt-ugly and a little scary. Even with the new traction control system and saner handling it's still the car that almost killed Kelsey Grammer. I love the Viper, and would own one if I had the play money, but truth be told while it's incredibly under priced for what it is... I would most likely buy something else with the money because it's not very practical as just a weekend driver, it needs to be stretched out and driven hard and I'm not a track guy. If Steve McQueen were still around, he'd probably own one, and then they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock but it hasn't quite crossed over from unattainable-kind-of-cool to real-deal-appeal.

JMHO

Oh and speaking of Steve... Anyone see that his 67 GTB4 275 is for sale:
http://hiconsumption.com/2014/05/ste...gtb4-for-sale/

I read somewhere that after he crashed his NART he tried to turn this GTB into a NART, but it's been converted back and should fetch 8 figures. Even when a stock 4 cam GTB is going for around 4 mill.

Marc: I missed reading your post last month so just posting to agree that when handling Vipers you can get bit. A friend learned the hard way at Road America (see video below) - but he walked away due to it's strength. Another friend who had a bad incident in a C6 still isn't totally recovered after 5 years of rehab. What we sometimes miss is that speed is one thing and survivable speed another...if I had to bite the wall in either one, I'd still choose the Viper.
