15300 or 15202?
I love both, have a hard time when there is no second hand, but the 15202 just looks and feels amazing, the blue dial surpasses the 15300 blue IMO, the rotor is very nice too.
What are the differences between the 2 movements? Am I wrong or is the 15300 using a modified JLC and the 15202 a in-house movement? Saw just the Jumbo in real, not the 15300, for those who know both can you tell me the differences between them? I understand they are tiny but am sure there are some. The 15300 is quite hard to get but I found one for 9.900 euros in excellent condition, serviced not long ago, whereas the Jumbo I can find for around 15.000 euros, retail is 17K. Is it worth putting 5K in euros not dollars, more to get the Jumbo? I feel that at 9.900 in the unlikely case I would want to flip it I would probably sell for the same price, don't know about the Jumbo, I guess in excellent condition it would be 13.500. Tomorrow my PP is arriving, thought of getting my Hulk and later the AP, but think will do the contrary, have my BLNR as my 3rd watch, and see later for the Hulk, since for those who didn't follow I am flipping all my pieces and going for a 3 piece collection, PP, AP and Rolex, no less, no more. Thanks for your insights about the 15300 and 15202 |

Hi I'm sure someone will answer this in greater detail, but the 15202 is the royal oak based on the historical jlc joint venture movement. The 15300 and 15400 use an AP in house developed movement.
The 15202 movement is thinner (supposedly the thinnest automatic with a full size rotor.. Not sure if still true) and has a smaller power reserve than the 15300 movement. Believe it's 40 hr vs 60 or so? |

i would go for the 15202 over the 15300 any day.. why?
1. yes its worth adding more money because when you do wanna sell it, you'll get value for the jumbo 15202 compared to the 15300. the 15300 is discontinued and 9000 euros is pretty expensive for a 15300 if u ask me. 2. as you said, the blue dial on the 15202 is much better than the 15300 3. its an iconic model just like the nautilus 5711 |

15202 uses 2121 movement which comes with all the horology history whereas 15300 uses the more modern 3120 movement found also in the 15400.
I'm struggling with the very same question myself (already have Nautilus 5726 on strap, AP ROO Safari, JLC Reverso Duo and Rolex Coke). I think especially if you're going for a 3 piece collection you would want to have the iconic watch from each brand, or let's say the model which represents the brand best. In that case 15202 is the way to go...I've found out through the hard way the "next best alternative" will only temporarily stop your itch - and you'll find yourself looking for a 15202 soon after your 15300 purchase :) I believe the old Jumbo was a bit poorly executed especially given the white border around the date window and AP logo at 12 hour marker position. The new one is simply stunning...you won't regret it |

I think the 15300 is much more value for money.

15300 for a daily bruiser 15202 as a second AP.

Go for the jumbo, the 15300 and 15202 are not in the same league in terms of movement&history.
The petite tapisserie looks really nice on the jumbo as well, truly a reincarnation of the original one. They might look identical but completely two different watches. |

Don't compromise and get a 15202. This is Genta's Masterpiece.
And don't sweat about the lack of second hand. I thought i would dislike it,but now i actually think it is quite cool. |

Both are beautiful pieces, but the 15300 was my choice.
I like the heft of the 15300 better, particular in the bracelet. I also like having a second hand, and the screw down crown. The in-house movement on the 15300 is a modern masterpiece and beautiful in its own right. I do understand the 15202's more direct connection with the original jumbo, but if that were my main consideration I would actually get an original jumbo.

Not quite...Sorry! Life isn't measured in seconds for me not minutes for that matter. Now having a thing of beauty and perfection to stare at yes that does not equate to regret but joy for the rest of your life.

The 15202 is a perfect beauty, I agree, I just need to see if I can go without the second hand, but at the same time it won't be my only watch, so I think I can do without, of course if it was my one and only different story…
Still haven't figured it out but I am leaning towards the 15202... |

Also I like to see something moving on the dial, but I think seeing the beauty of the Jumbo compared to the 15300 I think will choose it, anyways I will get my PP on monday, was supposed to get it today but the UPS site says it will be monday, incredibly excited and impatient to have it, will be able to wait for some time for the RO once I have my 5712 |

I had the same concern about lack of seconds, but after getting the 15202, I absolutely love it. The dial is so serene. Plenty of other stuff to appreciate on this watch without the seconds hand, foremost of which is the movement. Absolutely stunning. Plus the thinness is a huge plus.

15300 for the money and also imho the case thickness made me feel the overall fit n presence better.....
however, for the most classic AP n heritage, nothing can beat 15202:)

For myself, I don't use the second hand to measure time but I just like to see my watch alive and moving, I love staring at the moving second hand, but that's just me. |

What I love about AP is that there's a watch for everyone. While I think the 15202 is the cat's meow, the 15300 is no consolation prize. Get what works for you.
