I need a Milgauss?!
Well, I been playing around with some of those neodymium magnets doing some experiments, but not the usual small ones but BIG ones with a 200lb pull force - indeed I pulled my fridge over when I put it there and even more stupidly nearly pulled the radiator off the wall when I put it on there (as well as nearly losing my finger tips.... things I do for my kids, eh?)
I am pleased to announce that, despite being really rather careless and handling these fluxy behemoths with my AK on, I didn't have any problems with magnetism. Obviously, I didn't physically lay my watch on top of the buggers, and the field density is pretty tight so the flux falls off quite rapidly from the surface of the magnet - but it is still very strong. So - you don't need a Milgauss to handle big magnets, but you would be very well advised to take you watch off otherwise! I danced with the Devil and escaped and horrible service bill! I am an idiot. |

Good that you didn't magnetise your watch
Try to be careful

Too right I have to be careful. Considering I'm, well, not exactly stupid, I can be incredibly dumb sometimes!
But no, my watch doesn't pick up paperclips and staples if I leave it on my office desk! I sort of knew that the field lines were tight so when I did pick up the magnets I used my right hand to do so and held my left hand away. My boys think I am a melonhead. I am now wanting to buy 5g of elemental Caesium... (Youtube "cesium") - and again, my boys are expressing concern.... |

I just saw cesium video clips on youtube.
A good way to find if your watch is magnetised is to put a compass next to it

I agree with you 100%.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You ARE an idiot.

I also agree that you are dumb sometimes, but funny dumb, interesting dumb.
I have also nearly taken the ends of my fingers off with chunky Neodymium magnets. I didn't have any watch on though, not even my Milgauss.
