Glad I got a homage and not the real deal!
So I know some of you folks are anti homage but I believe they serve a purpose. I have several buddies who love their Pam. I knew the look didn't really talk to me but they have been persistent that I needed to try one. I decided on a homage piece instead. It was a few hundred vs a few grand and now I know that it doesn't work for me. It wears too big. I don't care for the crown guard and I know they offer models without it. It just doesn't suit me. And for the guys who scream I would never buy a fake! I bought it from a guy who is totally up front that he uses Asian movts and ss cases and DOES NOT allow panerai to be on any dial he uses. But he lets you choose the case, dial, and hands from his selection and totally overhauls the Asian movt and regulates it to better than COSC spec. No pretty but fake box or papers, just a watch packed in foam and sent to you with the time sheet.

You couldn't just try one on at an AD, or are you not close to one? Panerai's are not for me. They aren't interesting, and they are ginormous on my wrist.

Quite frankly, it doesn't really look all that big on you. When you visit the Panerai Forum in TRF, you'll see watches on guys that are bigger than their arms and all the comments will be things like "looks great" or "it does''t look big on you at all" or "perfect fit".........its ridiculous. Obviously, there are guys who pull it off effortlessly but the watches are generally way too big for the OPs posting and asking for opinions......if you have to ask, you probably know the answer. Nevertheless, I love Panerai........

Don't see the point if you compare homage to original and make a decision. If size is your issue, try the 42mm models in PAM, those are not big.

I don't think it looks too big either. If you don't like the look, then definitely the homage has served it's purpose. If size is an issue, I love my 121 which has an El Primero movement but is a 40mm case. Small for a PAM. I've heard the same arguments for less than authentic watches as well. It is a little hard for those of us not in big cities to try on enough watches to really know if we like them. Plus liking something in the store after 10 minutes isn't the same as wearing it all day long. Heck, just look at the classifieds here to see the turnaround or many watches that just don't get worn. But I'll point out that buying a nice genuine used watch here or on another forum isn't a huge risk because most of the depreciation has occurred. So if you're not certain or buying sight unseen, box and papers is a good idea.

Kinda like this.
Cyclops under crystal like a Pam and people think it is a Pam every time I wear it. 46mm like a Pam. Never pretend to be, never presented as. But I really like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
