First round @Pebble Beach!!

A couple of days ago I got to scratch a round at Pebble Beach of my bucket-list!

Me and a good friend got lucky and were able to call and snag the last tee time for Tuesday. Was an amazing, fun experience and to any golfers considering it I highly recommend it!

Also had my first sighting of a SD in the wild... our awesome caddy was wearing a 16600 on his wrist!

Hole 7, great tee shot, of course missed my 8 foot birdie putt for my only Par for the day

Yes the car show is on my to do list as well, maybe next year!... they were taking down all the tents and stands the day we played... Did see some sweet rides on the 17 mile drive though!

Late in the day like that I'm surprised there are no deer in the pics. It's not unusual to see a half dozen or more at a time grazing.

The Del Monte Forest is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the times I've played Pebble are always memorable.

BTW, what are the green fees these days, and how was the pace of play?

Yes our tee time was 0920, we played the round in about 4 hours so we were done by 1400... only saw 1 deer all day though!

That makes sense if you teed off at mid morning. I misread what you meant by "last tee time", lol! Deer pretty much take cover during the day. I thought you were the last group out and were finishing at dusk.

A four hour round is excellent. Even a 4 1/2 hour round at Pebble is pretty good.

That's the least of it. A room at Motel 6 in Monterrey is $600/night the week of the Concours.

How much is a round? I had heard you have to stay at their hotel to play, is that true? Great pics!! Cheers, Tim

Green fees are $495, includes cart if you are a resort guest and don't want to walk. Not sure about caddy fees. You don't have to be staying at the lodge though that may be the only way to get a tee time. Lodge guests can book up to 18 months in advance while non-guests only get one day advance booking.

Have to laugh at the weather, sorry. It's just my pride talking, I've played the course three times and I have yet to see the sun while on the course. Honestly I would have let it lie at 2 and not paid to played the third time I was there but it was sunny an hour before our tee time and I decided to chance it and as soon as I was getting dressed the clouds rolled in... I love Monterey but I swear it's a suburb of Scotland

Do they still limit you to one round per stay on their property? I had to stay there three separate times in order to play three rounds... But at least it was affordable

Yep, $495 green fee, normally have to be at the resort to have a tee time (3 nights minimum this time of year!!!)

The way we did it was to call a day in advance to see if there were any last minute openings and we were fortunate to snag the last twosome spot for Tuesday. We also only paid $395 green fee as the greens had been aerated about a week ago so we got a slight discount... though I honestly would have rather paid full rate and had perfect greens!

The caddy fee is $80 (we got one caddy to carry both our bags, and then we each tipped him $40 after the round)

I wound up losing 3 golfballs which is pretty good for me! One ended up in somebody's yard (they had an electric fence protecting their grass lol) and the other two wound up in the bay!

BTW if anyone is interested there is a home for sale on the green of the 9th hole... quick sale at a great price of 79 Million

Yeah it was nasty for the first three holes... misting on us pretty good... but fortunately it cleared up and we just had an overcast layer the rest of the day. No wind so was perfectly comfortable mid 60's.

No idea on the rules for playing while staying at the resort... Im lucky to live about 2 hours north in the bay area so I just drove down.

The Spanish bay course is awesome as well and I actually don't mind the Delmonte course either. No comparison to main course but if you can't get on, the Delmonte course while pedestrian in comparison is the original Pebble Beach course, so they say... find it hard to believe though.

Yeah so I've heard... definitely planning on hitting all the courses at some point. Spyglass is nice too from what I hear

I never played Spanish Bay cause at the time, it was just as expensive and desirable as PB so each time I passed.

Spyglass Hill may be the nicest of them all, except of course there is Cypress Point down the street. Talk about hard to get on though.

Makes sense... for the same price PB would be hard to pass up when you're down there...
