Good news, my teenage nephew is a watch guy!
I gave my nephew a couple of cheap watches I did not use anymore because I was not sure he would care about watches. His mother said he wore them all the time.
He plays a lot of sports for his High School. They dress up before the game, so I gave him a Pepsi Invicta Pro Diver for his 15th Birthday. He wears it on special occasions and before the games. His 16th Birthday is coming up. My wife who is visiting them told me he really liked the watches, so it seems like a no brainer to get him a watch for big number 16. He is a great kid and likes knowing they were my watches. I was going to give him an automatic Hamilton Khaki (with the internal bezel). Then I thought, that might be too nice a watch to give to a 16 year old, maybe when he is 21. I have a couple of Seiko's and a Citizen Eco-Drive (with the boxes) I could give him. One of the Seiko has a stop watch, so that might be something a guy who plays many sports might like. What do you think? P. S. He went out swimming with friends and has now learned the difference between waterproof and water resistant. He dried it out and it is still working.

I don't think that the Hamilton would be too much, I think if he were responsible he would appreciate the watch enough to take good care of it. Although if you have the Citizens and Seikos just laying around then that would be the easiest cheapest option.

That is great to hear! Sadly, the "next" generation seems to have little appreciation for timepieces in general and that trend really concerns me. Next time you're out and about, scan the room and see how many people have watches on. Not many, I'm afraid! So, I get really excited when I hear of a young person who shares our passion for watches. Thankfully, my 12 year old son is one of them!

That's awesome! I would surprise him and just go all out with the Hamilton. I would try to turn him into a WIS for the selfish reason of having someone to talk watches with someday.

I would give the Hamilton. More meaningful present imo

I gift watches I no longer wear to my many nephews. And I buy them new ones on special occasions. It is touching that they do wear them and they show them to me when they do wear them. I get a kick out of it. Much more gratifying to all than giving them posthumously. I am sure many of us do this with sons.

Great! I think any of the choices will do fine. What the heck, give him the Hamilton.

I have a Hamilton Khaki and I love it. It is perfect for a teenage WIS
