Resale Sub 16613 Vs. GMT 116713

1st post !!

Hi I currently own a Sub two tone 16613 “D” series but am keen on the new M series GMT two tone.

Buying new I suspect am always going to take a hit up front on resale, but in say 5 years from now ( don’t think I will last 10 ) do you think the Sub will hold its value better or the GMT ??

I think the GMT will hold up better, but both will be good.

Welcome to TRF

If you sell you watch now you are going to have a profit in the short term for sure because the M series TT GMT II C has a better value but since rolex made a new full gold ceramic sub and a WG ceramic sub i am pretty sure that next year they are going to update TT sub and the 16613 the watch that you have will be discontinued. Then your watch will go up in value in the long run.

My suggestion is to stick to your classic watch you can always buy the updated rolexes but not the classic ones

The classic TT blue sub will never go up in value simply because there are billions of them around

If it gets discontinued and 10 or 15 years pass then it will

I mentioned that in the long run it will get value if it get's discontinued

Keep your TT Sub, it's a better investment in the long run. The TT Sub is loved and coveted by everyone, meanwhile the TT GMT IIC is still trying hard to collect fans.

Although I am Pro-Sub-Mariner, I am afraid (at this moment) the GMT 116713 is all the money.

I would agree with that. TT Subs do not do well on the used market.
