1st Timer - New Daytona GS or Blue Sub Date GS

First time here so hello Rolex Forums. I am ready to reward myself with a 13K to 18K Rolex and have narrowed it down to two choices. Price is close and both are available to me. For my first Rolex I am stumped which way to go. I wear suits M-F and jeans on the weekends so both could work I think. Do most owners us the Daytona really as it was built? Is the Daytona in the GS an option? Is there such a thing as buying a used Rolex and if so, where? Sorry for all the questions but this is the place to ask. Thank you in advance. Cheers

What does GS refer too?

Tom aka tkerrmd uses his as intended, but generally no they don't.

Umm yeah the market for used Rolex is massive. They are literally everywhere as Rolex makes around 1m watches a year. They are readily available here on TRF through trusted sellers.

Welcome and hope to see pictures of your Rolex soon

TT Two Tone = Your GS Gold and Silver

Generally people will choose the one they personally like the most. If you chose to do so you can't go wrong either way.

Panda dial is very popular and only available in Two Tone not SS.

Thanks for the good info already !
TT not GS.
Also looking at the Panda... 6263 too rare and $$$, the others are a bit too loud with TT and white and black circles.
So its the blue Sub date.
Thanks all.

My advice is to not mix metals. Either Steel or gold. Plus resale is better than TT. Both are great watches. If you go the TT route the Sub is the right way to go. TT Daytona's aren't as popular.

FYI, Rolex only uses 18K in their modern watches and either watch will look great on your wrist. So your decision basically comes down to which watch you like the best. Go to an AD and try them both on this way you will have a point of reference in making your choice. Take a friend if you want so you can ask them their opinion...and we do have many trusted sellers here so if you want to save some cash...buy from one of them!!!

That is my thinking although I might make the TT Sub with blue an exception. Otherwise, keep them single metals. IMO.

I have seen the same resale stats on TT vs single metals. After a few hours of research, the single metal is sought after more as it would compare to it's resale value. ESP. the SS Daytona.

Bulls eye statement on the Daytona. I am looking as the single metal (SS) Daytona for a next watch purchase. And for the ground breaking first watch... Blue TT Sub date. I like the gold and silver look with the blue dial and bezel.
Thank you for the info !

@ Lion. Thank you for the info here. The Blue TT Sub is the stand out so far. The Galleria here in Houston, TX has a new Rolex store opened. I am heading there in the morning. Let the try on get started.

Great choice, but you want a healthy discount on one of these, the trusted sellers here can do 20% plus.

Thank you all for the statistics and great information. I have made a decision and feel VERY comfortable with the option I selected. I pick up my new timepiece October 6, 2104. Pictures of the new family member will be here then also. Again thank you all for the conversations.

Welcome Paul, like the way you are thinking

Also may get a lot more responses ig you post your watch specific questions on the Rolex discussion forum instead of this the open forum which is really used to discuss not watch related issues
