When I go on vacation do I just let watches run down?

I guess some here just let their watches run down if they are not wearing them. I have some vacation time coming and in a wooded area where I will not bring watches. Should I give them to a shop and have them keep them wound on their elaborate winding equipment, or just let them rest until I get back?

Let them wind down. No need for a winder unless you have an annual calendar or PITA complication to set.

There's no need to keep your watch wound unless it's a hard to set perpetual calendar. My concern would be them laying around the house while you are out of town. Make sure they are either insured or put them in a safe deposit box, depending on value.

Leave food out for them

Unless you can get a watch sitter for them while you're away. They need emotional care as well while you're away.

That's what I thought.

I will let them 'tough it out' on their own.

Thanks for input.

Yes, a new watch collector here. just learning the ropes and hope I don't hang myself on them...
